Hi, i got a few questions about the new alienware 17 r2.
1.) what is the best bios for the laptop? a00 or a05?
i have read that a00 has the best fan profile and a05 fixed some issue regarding bios s3 resume something. which is better?
2.)if i downgrade bios from a05 to a00, whats the way to do it? just flashed straight from a05 to a00 or flash 1st from a05 to a04 to a02 then a00?
3.)is there a chance to brick/ruin your laptop if you downgrade bios?
4.)hwinfo64 can control fan speed of the laptop with only 2 speed 2600 and 5200. is there a way for more options on fan speed?
5.)is there a different program to monitor current fan speed without changing it? just to see how fast the fan is running.
6.)I have talked to 1 of dell chat support about the heat problems im having like max core temp on playing dota 2 for 2hrs will reach 90 degrees celcius. the solution they gave me was update bios which is now a05 but still didnt fix the problem and the last solution was they will replace my heatsink and i assume repaste thermal paste. the question is, is the heat sink replacement will be a refurbished one or not?
7.)what is the best thermal paste to use? that at least last for a year and easy to use.
8.)I have a 970m graphic card. is the 180 PSU sufficient enough?
9.)what is the best cooling pad for the laptop? and where to buy? im in the UK.

hoping for some answers. thank you in advance and sorry for the bad english its not my first language.

    4) no, that's all controlled by the BIOS and you have no direct control over it. you can only control at what temps the fans will spin at with HWinfo
    5) you can use OSDs like RTSS with HWinfo to monitor your fan speeds in game
    6) try a different thermal paste that isn't crap
    7) Gelid Extreme or IC Diamond
    8) No, minimum a 240W PSU

message one of the reps on here more information about getting 240 PSU from dell. My understanding is dell is honoring this exchange world wide now. Save some Money.

    1) A00 - Turn sleep off, and set to hibernate, or restart your PC anytime it sleeps. If you must use a05, you need to run fan profiles 100% of the time to help with cooling
    2) Flash it with the download from the dell support page - do not power down during the flash.
    3) You can and will brick it during any bios change forward or backward if your computer fails to maintain power during the upgrade / downgrade.
    9) go to the accessories page, there is an entire thread dedicated to coolers. ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/notebook-coolers-a-buyers-guide.304671/)
