    Hey guys,

I purchased a 2014 AW17 a few weeks ago instead of the r2, mainly because I wanted 32gb ram for work and 3D/bluray but I've noticed something about the build quality which has ever so slightly disappointed me. I'm using the vindicator messenger bag to take it to work etc but I've noticed that for whatever reason, the soft touch rubber on the edges of the screen and palm rest have started to rub off. I'm extremely ocd about how I treat the laptop, I'm extremely careful but it just doesn't seem to be built for transport lol...

I've contacted alienware about this and they've offered to come and fix it, which is great but I was wondering if the 2015 R2 model has the same issue or have they corrected it for this years model?

    Cheers!

From my two hour or so interaction with the laptop, the soft black rubber finish is already starting to rub off from my hand being on it on the palm rest.

It's a known issue and many have had pieces replaced due to this.

That's disappointing, is it just a design flaw that they've ignored for the past 3 years? I don't remember having any issues with my m14x r2. Has anyone found a way (bar not touching it) to prevent this happening? I'd like to know that when I do eventually get mine fixed, that it doesn't happen again?
