Hello!!
So i've ordered Alienware 17 R4 GTX 1080 the 30/11 and got an expected delivery 20/12, yesterday it got delayed until the 29/12. I called Dell and were told that before they had shortage on a new part (which one they couldn't tell me) and it got delayed again becuase they had some kind of QA on the new parts.
Maybe they have listened and exchanged the paste or remade the heatsink arm. I will update alter after i've recieved it or it's just BS.
I live in Sweden BTW.

There are 1-2 threads on reddit about a massive internal screwup within the order and support areas of Dell. It essentially details that they have a new ordering system which is causing huge delays and, the system configuration problems where some people received systems with completely different hardware.
I ordered my 15 R3 on the 6th and had a 12-15 DD, well, today is the 12th and it still hasn't shipped so..

Well might be, but my order has been under Pre-production since 02/12. Step 3 of 6 here in europe on their status page.

Although, this time around having anecdotal evidence from a probable internal source about the perils going on isn't exactly par for the course. -
As they say, you will know the pioneers by the arrows in their backs. They don't call it bleeding edge for nothing.

I, too, have a "confirmed" order placed for a 17 r4 with 1080+1440. Supposedly shipping about the New Year. At this point, they have had enough returns of underperforming firebreathing laptops to have taken a look, and hopefully changes, of some sort, are occurring.
I would think a lot of people will return a highest end/priced laptop that throttles down consistently to a lower priced one level.
I have ordered Kryonaut (in case the return becomes a reality), pads, and did an email to dell about the SSD heat spreaders. I plan to add a 512 950PRO with a clean Win10 install as boot disk. I'll bring the 1t 2.5 SSD with my music files, and use the supplied SSD as backup files, and sync it to the cloud somewhere.
I personally welcome the loss of the DVD drive, and have some USB units if the need arises (rarely when the laptop is not at the office) -

Got my pads and paste here if needed -
I ordered mine, basically the max configuration yesterday and they are expecting it to be here by the 28th. I sprung for the 4 year warranty with accident protection too. Fingers crossed that it performs well. This laptop was more than the downpayment on my wife's car.

Let's hope the delays are for the better. I'm pretty upset about that they can't tell me which part they waited for that need further QA.

Hi guys think I'm in the same boat as most of you. I ordered on the 27th Nov and I'm still on pre-Production status right now. Today my EDD got delayed for the second time which was disappointing as after the first delay I complained about the lack of comms and was re-assured I would be kept informed of any future delays or changes in progress by Dell support themselves. Then today I hopped on the Dell site and noticed my order is now delayed from the 16/12 to 30/12 with no comms from them whatsoever, literally two days ago AND AGAIN today support telling me via email that it was being shipped on the 13th. Yes, it means that today (14 th) they advised me that it will still be shipped on the 13th even though that was yesterday and hasn't happened yet!). They don't even know what day of the f***ing week it is...
This, coupled with the fact that because of the original dates not moving and Dell reassuring me for several weeks, I was led to believe i'd easily receive it before Christmas and therefore have already sold my only other PC! This means the time I was looking forward to over the Xmas holidays to finally sit down and have some fun, now means I have no PC to do this at all.
Therefore I just told Dell to go f*** themselves and cancel my order.
Enjoy your Dellienshites! I quit this stupid rat race... -
Oh yeah, did I mention I also spent£100 on all the gear to do a LM repaste already, guess ill be flogging that on fairly soon!

Yeah bit of an update for you all. (I'm based in the UK btw)
I had a call from Dell begging me not to cancel the order and apologising profusely today
I played the whole kids for Christmas card which is bollocks and then got told to pick any accessory from the Alienware website . Naturally I chose a £450 4K monitor muahaha
They said they can't do that but that they will do the following now confirm via email
" Hi Pete.
Afternoon!
This is further to our phone conversation as per records the dates have been revised due to quality hold on the order . Its estimated to ship on 23-DEC-2016 and estimated delivery date 30-DEC-2016 .
Once shipped as discussed will refund 200.00 inc vat off the order amount"
They said they're now prioritising my case and will keep me well informed. We'll see or it may cost them another £200 haha
Interesting bit is that it's on hold for quality reasons which suggests they may be fixing the thermal issues too! Fingers crossed, I'll do a few benchmarks when I get it to check! -
well at least you guys have dates and some info
since i am outside US or UK or any important place .. i ordered from Hidevolution.com which i think they buy from alienware uk
i placed the order with them on 13th Nov .. and till now they don't know any date soon because of the dell new ordering system chaos
i thought they were making excuses at first but they were telling the truth after i saw this thread
i have been am waiting more than a month now and i am not sure what to do
i was thinking of canceling and ordering from some place else but there isn't any .. any suggestions ? -
And congrats for the good news about your AW order! -
yes, the Fujipoly 11 is just about all gone on Amazon.

I dont know if I believe in this email... But I have just received the email about my order was shipped. My status: "In Transit 12/15/2016 FEDEX GROUND". There is hope yet...

Glad that some of you are getting goodwill and delivery. Sadly i called Dell just a minute ago and asked about my order...first 4-6days ED then 20/12 then 29/12 and now they can't promise the 29/12...so now i'm pulling the big guns, cancel order or a good compenastion for the delays. I asked if i should reorder and they told me that i should wait and were told that they had big problems with deliverys cause of missing parts, QA/ Testing so at least they confirmed that. She is coming back to me later today (i was told) and will give me more details...The plot thickens....
-
well i ordered mine through hidevolution on nov 13 and they told me yesterday the order never got placed with dell
now thats a Christmas gift after more than a month waiting
and if you want 3k screen like it might be pushed like a month or so more
i think i will cancel after this beautiful support and service from both sides -
Good job, I've noticed that mines now gone to be in production!
Note a word of advice to others, don't mention "should I reorder?" because you're giving them a get out clause without having to compensate you! -
My status is still "confirmed" and delivering 1/1 - I'd like to meet that delivery guy. My office, where the delivery will occur, won't even be open 1/2.
I had a similar experience with HIDEvolution one time, and opted to go through Dell this time.xxax likes this. -
OK update, my computer is now under production but it may not arrive until 29/12- 5/1. but i got 10% back on my order value. So it's worth complaining if it got delayed maybe 2-3 times as mine and others.

OMG it's been shipped and i now have a tracking number Love you Dell! (Still want my 200 off though) haha
-
Now my tracking status is stuck in "Label created (Shipment information sent to FedEx)" since yesterday afternoon. I guess I will not receive it tomorrow. I will stop check it and I will just wait now. =SLast edited: Dec 16, 2016 -

It's been shipped! Purchased on 27th Nov, shipped on 19th Dec. Estimated delivery 28th Dec.
AW17 S42 1080 QHD 512SSD 32GB RAM 1 Year on site premium -
Mine (ordered 12/5) is supposed to deliver "1/1/17", but unless its several days early, I won't get it until 1/3, when the office opens again.
I plan to play with it stock for the first couple of weeks. If it passes my QC, I will do @iunlock's repaste and mods, and a clean Win10 install. I have the Intel WiFi card and a new 512g 950 PRO for the new boot drive.
That will also give this community another 3-4 weeks to tweak the tweaks. -
Hi guys, I'm going to post on this thread as it talks about DELL delays, I ordered a A15 R3 on December 14th, and had the shipping to 1/4/17, and suddenly yesterday 'updated' the estimated delivery to 3/30/17, how is that even possible???
I know Dell support will probably suck, so anyone have another idea? or just wait until my 2.4k USD laptop finishes 'production' -
I ordered my A15 R3 on December 8. Original EDD date was 2016/12/21, which was extended to 2016/12/28, and was extended today to 2016/01/04.
I don't mind my order being late, but what I can't stand is the utter lack of communication from Dell on this matter. I understand that there's probably a huge backlog of orders for them to catch up on, but their website shows that if you were to order today, it will ship in 8-11 business days. When I ordered my A15, their website showed a shipping time of 4-6 business days. My system didn't even enter the "In production" phase until 4 business days had passed. As I'm now at 15 days since my order, or 11 business days, I'm at the limit to what they're currently showing for their ship times with no sign that my system will ship any time soon.
I'm going to wait a few more days and then complain to them again to try and get something in the form of restitution. -
Yeah I finally got to the bottom of my problem after getting told all kinds of different order status and delivery dates.
It's on hold because they ran out of the i7 processor......they have no idea when they will get anymore in either.
I'm seriously thinking about calling and asking for compensation since I was told on more than one occassion everything was fine and that my order would ship today.
I'm even thinking about canceling the order all together........
So if you have an i7 6700HQ in your order details then prepare for it to be late if it hasn't shipped yet. -
I ordered on the 5th (so almost three weeks ago) and it's been delayed. I think it took a week to be even in pre-production, it was shipped on Monday with a new delivery estimate of the 28th but was updated today to the 29th due to "delays en route". It also says "Plan committed" now, whatever that means. 1 month for delivery of a product that was to be shipped in 4-6 business days.....
Unfortunately i can't get the GT73VR with same specs in the UK. Looked at Spain and Germany but it would cost me £1000 more. Due to the delay I did negotiate them down to £2150 incl a full version of office, so at least I can use the money I saved on getting someone to repaste. -
so while we're all having trouble with Dell shipping and 'in production' this goes on twitter:

Btw, I asked frank azur about the screen banding issues and he says if we are unhappy we can switch them with the new version arriving in February.
