    Dear 17 R4/R5 owners,

Was anyone able to upgrade from FHD to QHD using QHD panel with Dell part number and 40pin screen cable?
I did install one. It does work in bios and safe mode. But as soon as normal windows gets loaded, screen gets dim, no backlight.
Searched this forum and others. People are experiencing the same problem but no solution is provided so far, only issues.

Please share your real experience here.

if it works until you get into windows, I'd try (if you haven't) to clean uninstall all the drivers and then reinstall them. This sounds like a driver issue or something to me.

Not many panels are compatible in tbese models. If the edid isnt addded to the system bios, you are out of luck.

It was about nvidia certification or whatever is called. I got refurbished qhd panel on ebay and everything is working with that panel right now.
If you want to upgrade the panel: get refurbished and original, genuine that was initially came with laptop. There are some on ebay.
Dont buy new from China. It probably wont work with Nvidia drivers.
