hi there, i recently had to remove the original battery from my alienware (it had swollen bad enough it started to deform the chassis). I have tried 2 non dell batteries so far, both of which gave the error of battery being temporaily disabled. Would anyone happen to know where id be able to source an original/oem battery in the UK? im surprised both of those batteries would of been dead, or did dell program something into the bios to where it wont accept non dell batteries? any help would be much appreciated. Ive been running directly off AC power for the time being.

Usually they don't! OEM parts are hard to find once model goes EOL. Did Dell reps give you some part number for replacement battery?

yeah they gave me the part numbers, MG2YH and 01D82 as an alternative. both the non dell batteries were those, but they both gave the error of "Battery is temporarily disabled, please wait until the unit is within operational temperature and try again". I just hope if i do somehow get a OEM battery, that it will work and it isnt due to me running the unit on AC power alone after removing the old one. Not sure how it works in that regard. I've contemplated getting a UPS as an alternative (worried about power cuts and SSDs) unless im being overly paranoid, heard a few horror stories about SSDs being vulnerable to power cuts. Unless thats false information

Have you tried eBay? That's where I got mine, but it came with 11% battery wear even though it was apparently "new" . If you can't get one right from Dell then eBay or maybe Amazon is probably your best bet.

ebay and amazon are both were i got them from, in the UK supply is limited. Due to postage laws, laptop batteries are considered restricted items when coming from overseas. Tried ordering one from usa (oem dell) and it was stopped at customs and disposed off, luckily i got refunded for that one.

I feel battery thermistor was faulty. Usually Dell battery is programmed to shut off at 65C to avoid Note 7 like problems and applies even when you pull more than 80W.
    have you tried laptopbatteryexpress.com?

not yet, however from taking a glance at their website they are based in usa, so customs might be an issue again

Keep in mind they only appear to have the 68wh battery variant, so if you have the 99wh battery then this is going to be smaller.

its essentially the same one shown in the box in the 2nd picture, has the usual alienware branding on it, only picture i have of it is when i took an overview of the backside of the laptop when i installed it. ignore that piece of tape, that was my own doing lol. I also took a pic of the old swollen battery if anyone would be interested in seeing that.
