This is the second time the port has failed on me. I have to hold cables at an angle to get them to work. I've been an SE for many years and have never seen such terrible manufacturing on an ethernet port. They all fail the exact same way with the bottom of the plastic where the pins sit breaks off a tiny tab in the rear so the plastic gets pushed down when any cable is inserted. I am betting a large percentage of users don't even use their network ports which would be why it hasn't been reported as a large issue. I haven't even used the ethernet port three times since the last replacement.

Different cables. Shouldn't matter as they are all RJ45 anyway. If you can wiggle it side to side yours will fail eventually too =/

5 different motherboards must be nearly the record  I thought @VICKYGAMEBOY had the record :) Maybe he have the same number or even one more. This means same as 13 or 14 different motherboards for 3 Aw owners.

My 17R3 Ethernet port seems fine. RJ45 connects snugly without wiggle. These are very standard, mass produced components probably made by Foxconn or whoever. *shrugs*

HaHa. Yes, It's quite a record you have. I was not sure if it was 5 or six. Your incredible record should be in the Guinness record book  Hope no one will experience similar again. But the chance is still there :D

but I will accept it, since its not with all users, only me and few others who had such similar experience.. but after taking all feedback I'm happy with alienware's new model.. everything is good, GTX 1080, great cooling, new keyboard, and mainly new display.. which is brilliant.. first in class. sadly I'm skipping. ill wait for canonlake or kaby lake or whatever next lake from intel is..

It would surprise me if they swapped with previous motherboards that you tried before.

I am on my fourth MOBO on my Alienware 15R2.... it is a wide spread problem. ****ing ********, getting a refund if I don't get a system replacement by the end of the week, I will do a credit card charge back and not think twice after this. Been loyal for 10 years...
