    Hi all,

I have a pretty strange issue with my power button. The button Works fine for power up the system, but it does not work for anything else. For example, if I put the system to sleep, I won't be able to come back because the power button doesn't work.

If I set the system to sleep when pressing the power button, nothing happens. If I set the power button press to simply turn off the screen, it won't also work.

Any ideas what might be? It's clearly that's not a hardware issue.

Maybe a corrupted configuration. Check the power settings in Windows to be sure. and clear the nvram.

You can also try to re-flash your BIOS.

You jave to pop the bottom cover for that. There are 2 points that need to be connected by a screwdriver to clear the nvram. There are instructions somewhere on this forum. Its difficult to find it now for me since i use my mobile phone to type this.

I had this exact issue with mine after updating the BIOS to one of the bad ones. 1.2.12 I think it was.

It seemed to happen after the PC had warmed up. It had all the symptoms you that described.

This was the latest BIOS at the time and downgrading back to 1.2.8 didn't help. Even jumping the pins with a screwdriver didnt fix it for long. I ended up calling Dell and having the mainboard changed. This fixed it.
