    Recently install Samsung SSD 970 EVO 250GB M.2 2nd Slot Alienware 17 R3

    Slot 1 Interface PCIe 3X4
    Slot 2 Interface PCIe 3X2 ?

    Is this right?

    My m15R1 has this as well. Oddly, my 970 Evo underperformed in the one slot and worked fine in the other, meanwhile the Toshiba performed normal in both. I forget why specifically, but there was text next to the slot that made me go "oh that makes sense". I think its cuz one of them says like "Optane" or "SATA" and the other doesn't.

    Looking at the m15 specification pdf it says this:
    One M.2 2230/2280 solid-state drive SATA AHCI 6 Gbps/PCIex4 NVMe Up to 1 TB One M.2 2280 Intel Optane storage PCIex4 NVMe up to 32 Gbps Up to 118 GB

    I know yours is 17 R3, but maybe its something similar.
