    Hello all,

Many of us are seeking custom firmware for the AW 17 R3.

It would appear the firmware can be downgraded to versions prior to signature enforcement with a recovery flash, as suggested in the 13 R3 thread here.

There is clearly some ability to customize these firmware (BIOSes) with the tool mentioned here.

Has anyone attempted this or aware of a custom/modded firmware already available? Minimally some additional controls would be helpful, something akin to this L702X mod ( here, full menu unlocks - dozens of new options, with/without GPU [preset] mods). The newest Meltdown/Spectre variants' protections implemented and the latest Intel Management Engine would be a bonus.

    TIA

BIOS lock can be disabled but the PC gets bricked once flash is completed. You can ask @Falkentyne he did for me and sadly BIOS got bricked. I had to do Dell BIOS recovery from USB drive to recover.
You can use win-raid to patch MEI FW to latest 11.8.x. I'm on latest MEI.
@Falkentyne which guide you use to patch your BIOS on MSI?

I used paloesco's method in the MSI unlock thread, with FPTW64 -bios dump, amibcp 5.02.0031 unlock of the aptio bios capsule, RU efi boot after finding the bios lock text string with uefitool and universal ifr extractor and writing down that hex offset to enter it in RU efi, then booting back to windows to flash the modded aptio bios capsule with FPTW64.
