    Alienware 17 R3 - Is my PCH temperatures safe?

    hi all,

    i have an AW17 R3 with the 6700HQ, and after heavy gaming my PCH temperature reaches 69.5c, what are the safe temperatures for my PCH?, what can i do to reduce the temperature?

    That is a good temp. You don't want your PCH to reach 85C. Anything below 80C is desirable

    I have my warning set on HWinfo for pch set at 85C. Anthony below that is acceptable

    it's weird for me though since i've not seen it go 65 ever before, and since my unvervolting it never went over 60, until now

    It's normal PCH chips are passively cooled so they rely on the fan speed to get airflow over them

    A laptop cooler should be a must on any gaming laptop. Laptop coolers are not expensive and a small price to pay for component longevity. It doesn't matter which brand. The laptop cooler will do what all gaming laptop cooler lack is proper cooling.

    From my testing I've found that most laptops don't really benefit a lot, maybe 2-4*C but they add a LOT of noise - I personally don't like them and don't use them.

    Its totally not necessary. And tjmax of the pch is higher than 95c.

    Yes some specific thermal drivers have throttling range starts from 82C on PCH.. btw do u have any idea about TPM 2.0 device code 10 error.. ive got new motherboard.. even on that after updating to bios 1.3.10 im having issues with TPM driver.. Dell have no clue, my system was in service center for almost 2 weeks, they tried swapping motherboard etc, does TPM stores any key or info or ram or something ??? im curios..

    Hmm I dont use TPM myself. I doubt it is something that is stored in the ram.

    its a chip which stores ur encryption keys and other stuffs, can be used for bitlocker and other things, but my doubt is, even after changing 3 motherboards, how come its still there.. see if u have that on ur device manager.. and its working properly..

    I checked and TPM is working correctly on mine. Must be a driver combination?

    sad for me, it doesnt work on my system.. even i got samsung memory on my 980M 8GB.. on R1 i had hynix i guess
