If Alienware is not going to to ask for it back, you could
    • Sell it
    • Give it away
    • Keep it in case something happens
    • Forget about it.

The 15 and 17 R2 do share the same motherboard design, but I'm not sure if there are any minor differences.

The only minor difference I can think of is heatsink placement, as in, if there are different screw holes for the 17 R2's heatsink. If not, then all of the 15 and 17 R2's motherboard should be inter-swap-able.

That could be a nice upgrade for someone who just recently purchased the 4710 - 970M combo... like me ;-)

If you want to sell it (or give it away), let me know!?

Maybe try searching for part numbers and see if they match up.

Umm for how much is this motherboard at dell (i`m not from the states)? lets say with the 970M ..
And would you sell yours i`m quite interested. let me know
I have access to an Alien ware 17 R2 that i can buy as a scrap (200$ maximum) but the board is faulty (and surely its off the warranty its an on-line auction item)...
I believe the stupid new soldered GPU/CPU are overkilll to this good brand.

I dont really know for sure but it looks like they are the same motherboards. THis is the motherboard in an AW17 r1. Take a look at the gap beteen the left fan and the motherboard. It seems like it can fit both machines.
