So i received my Alienware 17R2 the other day and when i opened and booted it up, i noticed it was really slow (noticed it had 100% disk usage for an extended period of time) and some programs/games i later installed would not work or even run at all, looking online and trying multiple things to fix the disk usage error i ended up in a weird situation where my resolution when i tried to set it into 1920x1080 it would automatically go to the lowest resolution. The highest resolution i could go without it resetting to the lowest was 1600x900. So my friend suggested i just reinstall windows. I thought it was a good idea, so i created a bootable usb reinstalled windows......but now the problem is that for some reason i dont have any network adapters and when i go to install all the drivers from the dell website, most work, but the ones for the network adapter wont install because it doesnt recognize it as a dell/alienware device. #PlzHelpMy$1500PaperWeight

(Despite them being for the 13/15, the 13, 15, and 17 R2 all use the same Wifi card and LAN).
As well, since Alienware computers aren't filled with bloatware, reinstalling Windows might not get you far. It could be a result of 3 things.
    1. The HDD is slow (it is 5400 rpm).
    2. You have bandwidth control enabled in the Killer Network Control Panel.
    3. Both 1 and 2.

Did you do any updates on the machine? You could've done a clean boot to try to fix that high HDD usage.
