    There shouldn't be any difference?

NGFF stands for Next generation form factor which is m.2 design.

Not sure why you're seeing those options, they don't show up on my end. Is there a price difference?

Well if you want my honest opinion. The best choice would be to go with the 1TB hardrive and no ssd OR get the 128GB ssd + 1tb hardrive.

The reason why is the SSD alienware gives you isn't the fastest. The read speeds are great, around 540mb/s, but the write speeds are only about 280-320mb/s. You would save a decent amount of money by just buying the HDD by itself and then purchasing your own M.2 SATA3 SSD. It'll also have significantly faster write speeds since most new SSDs can easily do 500mb/s+.

The only downside is you'll have to reinstall windows onto the SSD but it's not the worst thing imaginable.

    Buy your own.

I ordered mine with just the single 1tb drive, then I ordered two Samsung Evo 850s M.2 , 256gb.

My Samsung Evos get 540 read and 524 write, about 90,000 iops....I can't complain.

I wouldn't buy anything from Alienware in this regard. Get the basic version with the 1TB HDD, then upgrade it yourself. It will be MUCH cheaper.

Not really. Get some software like Acronis True Image and clone the drive.
