Hi guys,
Got a 15 r2 just came in with a faulty burnt out DC jack socket, now i have done some research and the findings seem conflicting so im wondering if somebody can definitively clear this up please.
Will a simple DC Jack replacement fix this ? or is it a complete mobo replacement job?
Would appreciate some guidance as i will be sending the system back if it's a motherboard replacement too, don't mind replacing the DC Jack on its own if its a 100% fix.
Somebody did mention there was a batch of a faulty dc sockets but i can't find any threads or statements from Dell.
@DeeX @iunlock are you guys aware of anything i know you are close to Alienware directly?
Cheers in advance

I can not think of a way to know until you buy a replacement DC jack. DC jacks are super cheap and take around 7 days shipping time.

for dc burnt.. update your bios at least to bios 1.3.12.. they have fix that issue through bios update.. @rinneh can pitch in for this.. Best route is if you are in warranty ask dell to fix it for you.. If not buy a dc cable first then try to roll out the issue.. if it doesnt fix it.. might be mobo problem that got damage.. again if you have fixed it by buying a new dc cable then update to the most recent bios if possible..

Thanks for the replies guys, i can replace the DC no problem at all and have one on order as we speak.
Just worried that its the mobo that's the cause more than the DC sockets, are we of the opinion then replace DC Socket + disable express charging + bios update will stop the burn out when new cables installed? -

Okay that's a positive thank you, appreciate your time.
I will be LM the CPU / GPU, the GPU is a 980M but the CPU is only a 6700, so not tooo much draw from the CPU side. -
after replacing my DC jack, the laptop performance is better, the heat that come from that zone (near to ram) is a lot less.
@cope123abc also a good thing is that now i can play with the 180Watts adapter, something that new i cant witout battery draining or throttlingVICKYGAMEBOY likes this. -

Awesome thanks guys , reference the LM that's just as an added bonus for the new owner.
