    Hi,

I've acquired a Alienware 15r2 (i7-6700HQ, NVidia 980M) and having issues with the chipset drivers. Windows 10 and all of the drivers (except the Intel chipset drivers) install fine. Soon as the chipset drivers install the system freezes (for over 30 minutes) and eventually needs powering off.

The drivers have been downloaded using Windows 10 update and from Dell's support site. Even just installing the card reader causes the system to freeze.

Anyone had this issue before? Got a feeling the laptop needs bining. :(

try this, extract that chipset driver to a folder, to make it easy, put it in C:\Chip

now, from your start menu, go to Windows system then right click on Command Prompt and launch it as admin

type CD\ to go back to the root of C:

now type cd chip to enter the chip folder

now type setupchipset.exe -overall to launch the setup and have it install the chipset drivers completely

    see if that works
