So just updated to the Fall creators update today, and now my mobile hotspot in Windows 10 will not start (it just locks up). Before the update I was enabling the hotspot with my wifi connection (so my phone can use the wifi) for about a year without issue. I am in a remote place where my powered laptop with wifi killer nic can receive a wifi signal but my phone cannot (thus the wifi hotspot)
I ran in command prompt the following as administrator (right click on command prompt and run as admin)
netsh wlan show drivers
and it says:
Hosted network supported : No
so can someone with the same update and same drivers (mine show august date) try the command prompt command above and tell me what it says.
Also, someone who hasnt done the update please post what it says...
ugh

"About Windows" shows this for Windows version:
Version 1703
OS Build 15063.674
Device manager shows the following details for the driver for the following device:
Killer Wireless-n/a/ac 1535 Wireless Network Adapter
Driver Provider: Qualcomm Atheros Communications Inc.
Driver Date: 6/21/2017
Driver Version: 12.0.0.318
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher
Ok, with that out of the way:
1) My WiFi hotspot is working fine. My Laptop is connected to a wireless router for its internet connection (not via Ethernet)
2) I can enable and use my laptop's hotspot feature to serve a separate wireless signal to my phone
If I issue the commands you listed above in a command window, I also get the result that "Hosted network Support" is "No:
Here is the entire result of the netsh command on my machine:

thanks, so even though your hosted network support says no, you still get the hotspot to work, interesting....
