I just updated my bios which it ended up sitting on a black screen.. I waited 30 minutes..nothing new so I turned it off. I powered it back on and now it beeps 7 times and the alien head flashes red 3 times.

What methods can I try to restore my bios ?

I had similar problem, and needed motherboard exchange. Are you still under warranty?

I’m not sure. My warranty says unknown so I’m waiting to see if that changes since I just registered the laptop with dell yesterday (take 5-7days to process) the laptop ship date was 2 months ago so it should have warranty since it’s new.

Do they send you a new motherboard or do I have to send it in ?

The previous owner never registered it with dell so I just registered it last night. I’m hoping the warranty eventually shows once the registration is done processing! The ship date was July 27 2018 so should have 1 or 2 year warranty right ?

Yeah, if it isnt needed I just dont update. The previous gen could be saved still with a certain key combination and USB stick. Not sure sure about the kaby lake and up models.

Definitely minimum 1 year as it is included in purchase price.

BIOS can be recovered on AW 15 r1 and upwards. For 15 r2 and next models use c69k procedure and older models with Aptio 4 should follow Lord Zog guide. @judal57 can give more info when AW BIOS bricked his laptop during work hours when he was having lunch.
