Everytime i press the caps lock key it waits a few seconds before i can un cap or enable caps again and if i press it rapidly it freezes my mouse, I also cant upgrade to the new bios released for the 15 r2 its saying ROM image is not loaded - Rom image update denied. The caps lock key does NOT do this when i uninstall the synaptics driver completely i tried downloading older driver versions but the problem is still there.

Any fixes for either one of these would be greatly appreciated i just got the laptop today so this stinks!

A couple of things. First, I would systematically go through and update the bios if possible. I know you said it is looking for a rom image, are you downloading the executable from your support page and just clicking it? The latest one?

On the keyboard, go to your device manager, uninstall your keyboard and reboot. Do this AFTER trying to install the new driver. Once you reboot, the system will pick up the new driver and should correct the issue.

Post back and let me know how that goes. We need to sort that bios piece out first.

Also, FIRST. Make sure you have installed ALL windows updates. I should have posted that first. I have seen a lack of .net packages cause some issues.

Im pretty sure i have the second newest bios and yes im going to the dell drivers page and clicking on the new one the exe says to restart computer and i do it either sits at a black screen or goes into bios and gives me that error.

tried to uninstall the keyboard that isnt seeming to fix the problem, if i use a usb mouse everything works fine but when i use the touchpad i get this issue like it gets stuck on caps or no caps then i have to wait a few seconds for it to change, its super annoying.

    Yes

-edit, now my wireless card is crashing randomly my web browsing stops and i go to the network and i only notice the one im connected to then i have to reconnect and it starts working again. This is not a main issue for me if rather get those other 2 things working again this one can wait.

Edit again - managed to update bios via usb , it gave me a error at login about 2 hours id have to wait i just used my actual password instead of my pin that fixed that issue, the mouse issue is still here tho.

That explains about everything. If your bios updated through usb, but would not over downloaded file, then either your internet is horrible or you need to update those drivers first thing.

I suspect you have troubles with your internet. Maybe an old router? All of this is beginning to point to corrupted files.

My router is the night hawk (plus im wired up to it) so i know for sure its not the router, i managed to get the bios to update via the usb since i was getting that error as i stated before , i also tried to uninstall the mouse and keyboard no luck. its just odd cause if i install the synaptics driver completely everything works as it should. but i cant change my touch pad options (i dont like touch to click when i have the clickable buttons) and when i use a external mouse with the synaptics driver installed that seems to work fine also, this is so confusing :/

I will ask for a 3rd time. Have you ran windows updates? ALL of them, even the non required ones? Make sure the .net packages install correctly as well.

When i check it , it says,Your device is up to date. Last checked: Today, ‏‎6:29 PM (the time changes depending on when i check it) And as far as the .net packages go i have no clue is there a link you can supply me with to download all of them?

I tried to download the 4.6 one but it says i have a newer or same version and it wont install.

You should be good if that is what it says.

Is this a fresh machine or do you have a lot of different software on it?

I'm facing this problem after updating the bios to 1.2.7. It used to work fine on 1.2.3, hence I refreshed 1.2.3, but that didn't fix it. Removing the Synaptics driver fixed the problem but reinstalling it brings back the problem.

But - The only problem is the led light. Caps lock actually toggles behind the scene as soon as u press caps lock. The led freezes for about 3 Seconds but the toggle has taken place. Check this using notepad TouchPad and caps lock key. You will see that this is true

I'm guessing some sort of a bug that has crept into the caps lock led involving bios and TouchPad drives. Too convoluted to comprehend

Yes, when do you think there will be a fix for this? the day it happened it would freeze my mouse complete but i had a update later that night (2 days ago) touch pad update in the windows update that fixed the freezing issue but now im in the same boat as you.
