    Hello all.

My laptop has been opened 5 times in 3 service visits. Laptop is 1 month old.

I was cleaning the fingerprints today and noticed a gap between the chassis and the palm rest, can you guys check yours and tell me if this gap is normal? It doesn't look good to me, but thought I should ask first before calling Pro Support one more time.

    Thanks!

Depending on what they did it's not really designed to be taken totally apart and put back together many times, though it can depend on the skill of the technician.

Hello, yesterday the laptop was serviced, and it seemed that at last everything would be ok, but no luck yet! This time front LEDs are not working.

I requested a laptop replacement, I hope it's approved because like someone said in another thread, the laptop shouldn't be serviced so many times, even less when it's a little bit over 1 month old.

I can see a little gap on mine but is so small that it doesn't worry me.

Microfiber cloth that's mildly moist should do it.

Hello, just to share some good news, They finally agreed to replace the laptop!

The bad news is that I will get it in 30 to 45 working days, oh well. :)

Watch out .. this happened to me... The first replacement came in and had problems so they sent a a third replacement. The third replacement was sent and it had the 4k touchscreen when I had a 1080p. You say cool and upgrade right? Well I didn't want it as I do graphic design and the colors are all jacked up and solid colors a grainy. Their response was to give me a refund and I could go re-purchase the initial config I ordered.
WTF? Really? Does that make any sense to anyone? The problem with that was I used a limited time coupon & gift card so I would have ended up losing like 30% if I did that. Eventually a guy in tech support felt bad and replaced my screen with the 1080p screen. My point in all this is that swaps sure have changed. They initially treated me like a nuisance for even reporting the first 2 issues that resulted from their poor QA. They acted as if I was purposely trying to get an exchange or something. Something else to note; Replacements are usually done with refurbished systems.

This system is great... Dell is still better then most other makers. If this would have happens with a clevo its a pain to get them swapped.. tons of mailing and longer wait times. However after having purchased 8 Alienware's over the past 6 years I can say the exchange process sure has gone down hill.
