Hello I just wish to share my current experience with Windows 10. I'm running on AO0 bios and 353.62 Nvidia drivers and the system is running good so far with no real problems. Did an upgrade instead of a clean restore/install. Only downside so far is the boot/shutdown/restart time seems to be much longer than Win8.1. I've tried enable/disable secure boot with the same effect. Maybe someone knows how to fix the slow boot or shutdown time.

Had the same issue... was resolved when I did a "clean install".

A clean install is a must. When I did the clean install, Windows 10 complained about how the Windows 8 GPT partitions were setup. So clearly Windows 10 for one sets those up different. Also time and time again I have ran into silly bugs that were only present because I did the "upgrade" doing a clean install resolved them all so far.

How did you do clean install? From ISO image and log on ms account to activate? Or just factory reset?

Is it too much different between clean install and reset in windows? The problems here is clean install not always activate and that is the most problem I face with now. I clean install several times, none of them activate my windows 10. So exhausted.

There is a very specific way to Clean install. I too could not for the life of me clean install. I tried on 4 different computers before realizing there is a certain order to do it in. I now have 6 computers that have activated instantly on a clean install. I made a post about my method in this same forum.

Are you coming from 8.1 or 7?

Ok I found the solution to the slow boot time by disabling fast startup in power options. Another problem I encountered is after boot, if u switch displays, the right end side of the desktop (approx. 1/5 of the screen) is not accessible. The wallpaper still goes through that area but u cannot click or have icons over there. This only affects the desktop, not games or applications which are fine. If you switch back to the original display the problem disappears, really weird stuff. I'm hanging on and trying to find solutions, too lazy to perform a wipe and clean install.

    Hey guys,

This is what I did and it worked for me.
I've been wondering as all of you about this "clean install". We can read anything on the internet so I decided to give a try by myself.

The requirements in my case are the following :

    - Alienware 2015 : 980m, 15', i7 4210hq.
    - With Win 8.1
    - Upgrade FIRST your Win 8.1 to Win 10 (so apparently, Windows will register and know your hardware)
    - Download the Win 10 Media Creation Tool on MS website
    - Create a bootable image on a clean USB
    - Restart your comp and Boot on the USB key (pressing F2 or F12, can't remember)
    - Chose to install the OS (not upgrade) and format your partition/drive
    - When Win10 asks for your Win10 serial key, at the bottom, a button should display "skip" : click on it.
    - Finish the installation.

=> go check in Start menu/Settings/Security & Maintenance => Activation : your Win10 should be activated without entering any key.

It worked for me. It should also for y'all.
So far, I got no issue except that the USB3 drivers won't install (Win10 got them already installed ?) and another one (can't remember) : no big deal.

I'm running on A00 with the latest nvidia drivers.
I have no yellow exclamation point though in my setting devices.

    ;)

Guys could you tell me after last windows 10 builds updates how is alienware 15 r1 980m gtx 4k touchscreen doing? I want to buy one unit and upgrade it to Windows 10. Is the touchscreen ok? How about games performance?

I read there were sound issues caused by bad drivers too late. Is the situation solved with last builds upgrades of windows 10?

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and ask a couple of questions.

-Did you defragment your OS drive after you installed windows 10??

-If you have an SSD for caching, did you reconfigure that through intel rapid storage after the install?
