Hi all, I currently own an Alienware 17 that is 2-3 years old.
Looking to add another laptop to the house.
I noticed that Costco.ca has the Alienware 15, likely the R1 version?, on for $1269 (Canadian).
The starting price for a 15 (R2?) on dell.ca is $1449.
When looking at the specs, the only real diff I can see is the costco version comes with Win 8, and the Dell version with Win 10. Both have the same i5 4210 processor, 8G Ram, 965M graphics. And Costco of course has a 90 day return policy.
Am I missing anything?
I realize ordering from Dell you get to choose certain upgrades if you want, but I actually don't want to. The only thing I may upgrade is to swap out the HD for an SSD, but I'd do that myself anyway.
Any reason not to go with the Costco offering?
Oh, also just noticed that via Costco's 'Concierge Service', they extend the warranty to 2 years, free of charge. Not sure how exactly that works, if the second year would be through Dell or a third party, but figure it can't hurt!
Thanks!

If they sell it at Costco, you should definitely buy it. Costco has probably the best return policy in the business. Don't like it bring it back. The only reason they put 90 return policy on electronics is so that people don't buy a tv or something, use it for a year then return it when the next model comes out.

Technically, the base 15 R2 has an i5-6440HQ (I think based on the speed and that the 15 R2 is Skylake-only), a quad core processor. If you ever plan on getting the Graphics Amplifier, having a quad core would be ideal.
You could haggle the price of the 15 R2 a bit or use some coupons. -
Maybe its different on the US site, but on the Canadian site, the base config comes with the following i5:
Intel® Core™ i5-4210H (Dual-Core, 3MB Cache, up to 3.5GHz w/ Turbo Boost)
But regardless, I wouldn't ever be adding the graphics amplifier..
Thx
