So I got this laptop from a friend which had a 7 beep problem with it, and decided to repaste (I don't know why). When he had assembled the laptop again it would not boot at all. Now, I've disassembled it completely to look for obvious damage, which I can't find. I have measured the DC in at 19.5V, so it does not seem to be the DC jack either. Nothing happens when I press the start button. I tried removing the coin cell for 30 minutes while I had the main board out, but that does not seem to have fixed anything either. I find it weird that it just seems completely dead, no response at all! Is there a way to check whether the power button ribbon is broken? I reseated everything, and didn't find any obvious tears in the ribbon cables. I did not check for shorts, as I'm unsure of which pads to use.

It was bought in 2015, so the warranty is long gone.

it can be turned on without the power button touching 2 points but i cant remember exactly. one user made that to discard the power button cable. unplug the power cable from both sides and put in on different sides.

Would love to know what user did that, I have been looking around, but can't find any schematic for the system...

UPDATE, I measured the power cable between the power button and MB for continuity, and it seems fine... Hmm, it seems weird that it is completely dead, no light, nothing.
