    ok friends, i made a new mod for my alienware 15 R1, but works on Aw13 (R1-R2) Aw15 (R1-R2) Aw17 (R2-R3) as well

I used the same fan that is used on this model to make a modular fan that i can atach or un-atach each time i want.

First thing used were 13 neodimium magnet of 1mm and 6mm of diameter (very strong)
second... you need the fan XD
    [IMG]
ok i choose this patern becase is the best for what i am going to do

now you nedd a USB cable from a charger for example ...

and here is the final job ( i used instant glue to hold in place the magnets. are really strong, but just for making sure)

As you can see the gap between the fan and the laptop is almost 0, this is perfect because the side that is in contact with the laptop is made of aluminum and will help to hold heat to be blowed by air flow

the fan work as a vacuum machine ... absorbing the hot air from cpu and gpu generated ...

and here is the final result

the next step is make a manual controller to reduce or increase fan speed using a pwm controller ...
also i am trying to find this little legs that comes with the new aorus models

i bought a new stand and now i can fit perfect my third fan
    [IMG]
my temperatures while playing mafia 3 with an overclock on gpu as you can see

So are these temperatures under heavy load. Will the magnets not harm components. I have heard praises of opolar vacuum fans. They do not fit alienwares but I guess the concept you have is similar.

the magnets don't harm anything because they are attached to the metal vents (the magnet only could damage a HDD) .. opolar force your fan to move, because use the same exhaust vent of the fan( in my case i put the fan in the middle, so is not forcing anything, just taking air from inside and blowing it out). in fact neodymium magnets have good thermal conductivity, helping to transfer the heat to the third fan

and the pictures are at idle (browsing), but for example playing battlefield 4 on ultra and having the gpu with an OC and all cores at 3,4Ghz the temperature never surpass 71°C for the cpu and 64°C for the gpu

Isnt a cooling pad just as effective?

but the space is less ... and the cooling pad blow air .. i am not a fan of something blowing air inside of your laptop... that is why i choose this .. is a vacuum

Err. Is the vacuum the opposite direction to current flow?

Out of curiosity, what are the dimensions of Alienware M15 fan (diameter x thickness, the actual fan and not the case)?
