I have an alienware 15 R3 with the FHD 60hz screen from late 2016, that was recently cracked. I have enquired about whether it would be possible to replace this with the new FHD 120hz g-sync screen or a 4k screen, however dell support haven't been fully helpful. Has anyone got any experience with this, and does anyone know the model numbers for those two replacement screens?

Will these screens both drop directly into the existing housing?

    Thanks in Advance!

Someone can correct me if I am wrong but from what I understand the 120hz model uses a different mainboard and so a replacement to the 120hz will not be possible if you didn't already have it. Gone are the days of upgrading except your HDD and memory.

I thought that may be the case with the g-sync. Dell did indicate that the 4K screen would be an option, has anyone got any experience upgrading from the FHD to 4K? Will the panel just slot right in to the lid? And does anyone know the model number for the panel, or a suitable replacement panel?
