I have an Alienware 15 R3 with 8Gb 2400Mhz RAM and want to upgrade it with another 8Gb Stick. I bought a 8Gb 2400Mhz Hyperx, installed it and now both run on 2133Mhz.

    Any idea why?

Does it show 16GB as installed memory? Which brand was the stock RAM?

It shows 16Gb. The stock ram is SK Hynix.

It depends on the specs of each stick of ram. That is why it's recommended to use 2 sticks from the same manufacturer.

Just check memory timings of both stock and new RAM sticks, I bet its different that's the reason causing it.

Everyone's RAM source could be different, so it's best if you check for yourself using a program like CPU-Z or HWInfo.
