So I finally got my Alienware 15 R3 with 6700 CPU,1070 GPU, and 120hz panel, but there's one big problem: I can't download the latest nvidia drivers, so games like Witcher 3 and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided all run like crap. I've been hearing that nvidia recently whitelisted the new Alienware laptops, but when I try to update mine, I still get the message saying that this device is not compatible. Does anyone know a solution to this? Thanks.

So nobody else is having trouble with updating nvidia drivers for the Alienware 15R3 with GTX 1070?

Are you downloading through Geforce Experience or via the Nvidia website?

I tried both. GeForce experience doesn't even acknowledge there's an update, and running the installer just says my device is not compatible.

What version do you currently have installed? You can check that out inside of Geforce Experience I believe or you can go into device manager, Display Adaper, right click on properties for the Nvidia, and driver info.

Will try this, thanks. What kinds of risk can this incur and would you say it's worth taking the risk?

I think about as bad as it'll get is you just reinstall the tolerated driver. Just easier to find on a thumbdrive. You shouldn't have any problem.

OK... so this is weird. I was following the steps, only to realize that everything that I was asked to modify was already there. I didn't have to do anything because the lines of text that I needed to insert into the inf file was already there. Only I can't update the Nvidia drivers.

It's almost as if I should be able to update but for some reason I can't...

    Burn it. With Fire.

Just Kidding. Pyrotechnics aren't recommended. Try uninstalling with DDU and reinstalling the latest from a clean install.

Still tells me it's incompatible... Have others managed to download the latest drivers to their Alienware 15 R3's with 120hz TN WVA panel?

    Really Odd.

I went onto the Dell Support site for driver downloads and they have a release dated Oct 5th, just over 20 days ago. It doesn't say which Nvidia driver revision it correlates to but I'd say it's worth a shot.

It's the same 369.32 version unfortunately :\. This is weird, a few people posted that the Alienware machines finally got whitelisted by Nvidia, but it doesn't seem that way from my end.

Yeah definitely not. That's a shame. With Alienware you can typically get a hold of them decently well via chat. If you don't have anything else going on might reach out to them directly and see if they have a workaround. They're pretty stingy with that sort of help though.

The G-Sync models have a different motherboard. I don't know how nvidia determines if a machine is able to install the drivers but maybe it looks that the motherboard info?

I appreciate all the help. Hmm... different motherboard huh? I guess that's something worth looking into. I'll also try to contact Dell. For now, this looks to be a lost cause. I guess i'm forced to wait until Dell decides to release the new driver or until NVidia whitelists the machine. But if anyone else finds a solution or work around, I'm all ears.

Is there any way to get in touch with NVidia to speed this up? In all likelihood I will also be affected by this as I'm also intending on purchasing my notebook with the G-Sync display.

Actually, turns out I downloaded the wrong drivers. When you go to Nvidia's website to download the driver, don't let them autodetect your GPU. Do it manually and select the correct one. After that, drivers will install just fine.

Any of the people who received the 15" gsync can comment on the panel quality? Light bleed, color accuracy, black levels, contrast, etc..

@Erchino, question for you since it seems you have the 120hz FHD panel on the 15R3.

Does this panel exhibit the same issues showcased in the the video below? Please let me know. :)

please share your experience with the 120hz panel, not many people have it yet. Does it suffer from banding like the 17 inch one?
