This is a 1080p IPS screen, it s not terrible. How/where can i buy a better one ? 100% compatible

on ebay i only saw 1080p ips screens, but no way to understand if it s better than mine.

    thank you Colleagues

Oh my god, no kidding that screen is absolutely trash.

    180 nits on average.
horrendous color representation of 60% sRGB (Argyll) 38% AdobeRGB 1998 (Argyll)

    *shivers*.

    @t456
    Please help the guy :'D

That was only in the first batch. If you have the lg it is around 220nits.

If the color repesentation, contrast etc. are still as meh, then that doesn't do much :'D

Yes, but you have no way of knowing what screen you'll receive. Laptopscreen doesn't list those details and will ship whatever they have in stock and is guaranteed to run on your system, including your current model.

Remember that most screen sellers cater to customers (often repair shops) that have a broken or otherwise defective screen. For most of them it doesn't really matter what panel they receive, provided it runs. If you're looking for upgrades then either buy a used panel or make sure to contact the seller prior to ordering.
With the laptop, yes. But not with your current cable; 3k/4k needs 4 lanes of bandwidth and you have a 2-lane atm.
Probably. There's a fair chance it is identical to the one you have now, so ...

Samsung panels are ... difficult. The 180 cd/m2 panel on the R2 claims to have a plug-and-play id labeled 'SDC4C48', which is meant to uniquely identify a component. Samsung has its own, quixotic ideas about this and happily ships all these panels under the same 'SDC4C48' moniker:
    • LTN108HLxx-xxx
    • LTN140HL02-201
    • LTN156HLxx-xxx
    • LTM184HL01-C01
Note that the first three digits represent the screen size in inches. So a 10.8", 14", 15.6" and 18.4" are all the same panel and can be interchanged without any hassle; plug 'n play ... so sayeth Samsung o_O .

Even though they make a few good panels they also make rubbish and there's very little to go by to distinguish the bad from the good.

See if you can find a B156HAN01.2. It's about the best panel you'll find that is a drop-in compatible.

thank you, now i m sure i can at least buy a better panel : B156HAN01.2.

Where i live i can find any panel easily (from UK or Germany) and i can have it for about 40e :)

but i can spend a little more (about 200e) for a better quality screen. is there a way to buy something better? and compatible ?

    btw i m in Florence (Italy) :)

Hm, those listings probably say something like ' compatible', ' fit for' or ' model xyz for model xyz'. Only way to be sure you really get that specific panel is to order used or inquire with the seller before ordering.

That panel will be a night-and-day difference, if you can actually find it for €40 then you'll have a very good deal. Another option is the N156HHE-GA1; it has a similar gamut, though a little less accurate, and can do 120Hz out of the box. It's a TN though, so if you're one of those people that hold the misconception ' TN = bad, IPS = good' then you might want to skip it. Also; more expensive, but at least you'll now for certain you'll receive that exact panel since there's very few official 120Hz panels.

Wise choice; it can hardly compare. See if you can find a used panel or send a few more inquiries.
Don't mistake those manufacturer inventory listings for actual measurements; they're very generic and are only good for indicating a bare minimum. This is really quite a good panel; see the NotebookCheck review on the MSI GE63VR, for example.

    Perfect, i can confirm : N156HHE-GA1 (120 Hz) is perfectly working on Alienware 15 R2 (6820hk - Gtx 980 )

Brightness control is fully working too

This 120hz panel is fantastic :)

thank you for the advice :)

    edit:
