Title says it all.
I been check everyday waiting for UHD option to appear, and only available in the USA, cannot find the UHD option anywhere else in the world scanning through the different nations.
The new FHD 220 nits panel should be not be allowed, such a backwards step on a notebook of this level, downgrade over its predecessor!
Wishing for someone with some inside knowledge to let use know where and when the UHD will be available?
I live in Australia and New Zealand region, both websites are essentially the same parts/specs but difference prices, hoping someone has a close to today ETA?

1.) No 15.6" 4K IGZO display option. (Because reasons.)
2.) Limited to a i7-6700HQ if you want a GTX 980M. (Just...why?)
3.) No WIndows 10 Pro option. (Again, why?)
4.) No 1tb PCIe option. (No justification)
5.) Cant change/ remove Office Trial software. (What?)
If anybody knows what the hell is happening I, along with countless others, would be grateful for some guidance.Last edited: Oct 8, 2015 -
Hi!
I was having the same problem as you guys. I live in Sweden and the Swedish website is hopelessly behind. But then I talked to a sales rep and he sent me quote after quote configuring systems to my liking. I got the exact same model as the US site but with a Nordic keyboard and within EU so no tax and customs. I haven't done the deed yet since I'm returning another laptop first. So drum up a sales rep, I got hold of one through the chat on my local dell site and talk to them.
But the &#ยค"#% with the Office trial and the fact you can't skip Windows is bugging me to but they apparently "had" to be shipped with the computer per an agreement with Microsoft. -
I find it unacceptable that I have maxed out my specification for a exorbitant price, yet no option for UHD to top it off. I would of however been fine with the FHD panel, but the fact Dell have put such a low grade old brightness standard (probably lower color and contrast) as the only option, we have no option if we want the notebook which I am sure is a decent build for a 15 inch.

You can get Windows 10 Pro, but you'll need to get a sales rep. to add it to the order.
In the UK, you can't specify it on any of the models, but I was able to get it added to my 17" order. The UK item number is 619-AHCR.
As SweSharkie said, you do appear to be able to add options manually when you speak to a sales rep. that can't be configured online. -
I will see if this can be added in another country such as Australia and New Zealand region.
Can some one tell me what the part order number is for the UHD display for the new AW 15 R2 model? -

Dell as good will gesture they would upgrade SSD to next size, which I appreciate, due order delays and internal changes to specs. Although they did that after the unit with smaller SSD shipped which never arrived, and they said cannot place order for larger SSD unit until they bring the original shipped back in stock which has been over 10 days now. Bit disappointed that I ordered this way over a month ago, at this rate could be another 3-4 weeks away. Turning into a never ending nightmare.
Please let me know I am about cancel my order completely (well the order that doesn't even exist yet, as another hasn't been generated). I have already paid in full over 1 month ago, and I still have nothing, expecting to get something 2 months after full payment has been made.
Only reason will cancel wait to long and now the XPS with UHD is out might be forced to get that instead. At least I can order the XPS today, rather than still be waiting for the AW15 R2 that could of been already re-ordered over a week ago.Last edited: Oct 16, 2015 -
This got ridiculous waiting over 1 months and no new order yet fully charged, cancelled requested refund and re-ordered XPS that actually has UHD. Have to say the 220 nits display was the nail in the coffin, also those the could compare the Haswell based model and panel with the newer Skylake based model with 220 nits rating.

Help me out here guys.
Hypothetically speaking, could the old Alienware 15 R1's UHD glossy, touch-enabled panel be retrofitted into the newer R2s chassis?
That would be the "ideal" laptop in my eyes. I've sat in-front of countless screens; both matte and glossy, and 90% of the time the glossy panels offer deeper blacks, brighter whites, better color gamut and much more appealing saturation/ hue to images on screen. Not to mention they just look better from an aesthetic stand-point thanks to the uniform surface and edge-to edge nature of their design.
On first glance, the idea doesn't seem all that unreasonable. I don't think the display is permanently mounted or attached to the display cover/ shell of the case, and the size hasn't changed. I can see problems arising with the integration of the touch-capacitive functionality, but I think the mobo is exactly the same as the previous gen, so even that shouldn't technically pose too many problems.
