Have you installed all the Dell downloads - drivers, software, and so on? This certainly sounds like a driver issue.

Have you checked Windows update history because Win update now updates BIOS and I think it passed incorrect arguments for BIOS flash and didn't shut down after flashing. Try re-running BIOS update.

Nice seeing Dell has a done an agreement with the Devil “Micro$H4ft” how to screw up even more (forced firmware updates). Equal as with Lenovo. Bad with forced drivers and useless apps but this time they have really done the eggs. Let M$ distributes the firmware packages to their customers is the devils work. For the records... Not all notebook manufacturers, OEM + resellers do it equal and follow DELL. Thanks God for that.

Unfortunately, this is what happens when retarded dolts are given permission to make decisions for everyone.

Totally Satanic control freak move. Unforgivable digital blasphemy, indeed. This sucks no matter whose idea it was, and it is a good reason to avoid any brand that stoops to this level. They need to understand that some people DO NOT WANT things changed unless or until they say so, and especially not using the Procrustean approach Micro$lop applies to everything. The people affected by this nonsense need to file a class action lawsuit against the manufacturers of their products that handle things this way and Micro$loth. These Digi-Nazi bastards need to be punished for their insolence. Even if nothing goes wrong, this is overstepping the boundaries of decency unless there is an easy and obvious way to opt out or undo. Until then, any costs associated with troubleshooting and fixing the problems that arise needs to be paid by the Redmond Mafia, along with a fee representing "pain and suffering" compensation for each day the machine does not function as it did prior to the "update" cancer being applied.

Driver and BIOS updates were biggest complaints said by users on OEM laptops. With W10 the problem should be minimal but practically it depends on how things are packaged by OEMs and shipped to MSFT for testing & validation.
Microsoft laptops are serviced in the exact same way but installing anything w/o user consent is simply outrageous and more often users clicking Yes just to get rid off notifications and updates w/o reading anything!
BIOS, drivers and firmware must need user consent to install. We can't do anything about w10 updates( I use wub to disable WU).

Oh here we go...if we can't bash Dell for BGA then let's bash Microsoft instead and go way off the rails.

Add in failed firmware updates into this mess and it will be completed. What more can be destroyed?

Will you post a screenshot of your update history showing the BIOS update?

I don’t have any Dell firmware in my history.

Hi all, sorry took so long to respond.

This is now resolved, the primary cause was the dedicated GPU was not being detected in the BIOS, this in turn only let the Intel HD card work and was causing these issues, stripped laptop down cleaned up contact around GPU and what would you know.. she works perfectly now, GPU is also detected.. so there must have been either a short or a dirty contact..

    Thanks again all

i hardly doubt that, probably u must have cleared cmos when you tried to clean, a gpu can only cause issues on bootup/ blackscreen or GSOD or post error.. you must have reseated the ribon cables.. in the end it worked.. good for you.. hows ur gaming performance..

I disabled WU for that reason, I'm using older 1.3.12 BIOS.
@VICKYGAMEBOY use the rom file of current BIOS and use AMI WinGUI or AFUWin and pass arguments /P /B and /N and that'll get rid off slow boot. USB wake support must be disabled in BIOS, enabling it will cause huge boot delay.

Well you can "hardly doubt" all you like lol, i may not post here much but i have had over 100 alienware systems, there was LIQUID metal breaching the contacts on the motherboard this in turn stopped the dedicated GPU being recoginised by the BIOS itself, there is no switch graphics option on the 15 r2, I didn't do any CMOS reset nor did I clear the NVRAM... there was tonnes of the stuff everywhere... extremly lucky nothing was fried...

    Runs perfect now !

u mean after the .exe u want me to add those.. and what exactly is that /p and /b.. thanks ill try, my usb wake thingy is always off, its just after 1.4 version bios im having these issues, never had sleep reboot issues before, im pretty much sure, tried running the older bios through USB method, .rcv.. sadly, it does flash.. but it gives TPM errors and Few ME errors.. i flashed 1.6.1 again, all the issues gone, i think the new 11.8 with older bios causes tons of issues, no wonder downgrade is not permitted..

The exe file must be supplied with /writerom or /writeromfile depending on which argument which works for you.
If you have the custom 1.3.12 BIOS that Daz gave me simply copy that new rom file there and edit bat file to flash the new rom's name. Replace /REBOOT parameter with /SHUTDOWN because w/o it AW BIOS will not be applied successfully and there will be little quirks here and there.
As for TPM issues, it is the problem of switching between Secure boot and non SB mode based driver which causes conflicts. You can run Hardware troubleshooting pack and Windows 10 will tell you TPM has driver problem and it'll remove it and install correct driver on reboot. I'm using latest Prema ME 11.8.3570.
If you use USB bootable options frequently like I do, use AIOBoot for creating dual UEFI and Legacy compatible ISOs(W10,LiveCds etc..)

Correct on wake up it wasn't detected from sleep mode, this was because the laptop wasn't utilizing both the dedicated card ( not even detected in bios) and the onboard GPU.

The removal of the spilt liquid metal from all over the mobo sorted this issue out perfectly, and the dedicated card was then recognised again in the BIOS, this instantly fixed the "on sleep" issues i was experienced prior to teardown.
