I'm thinking of upgrading the RAM on my Alienware 15 R1 with Windows 10 64bit from 8gb (4gb x 2) to 32gb (16gb x 2), would I run into any problems doing so? has anyone ever done that? since I don't recall having the option to upgrade to 32gb when I bought this laptop a few months ago, although now I see that the Alienware 15 R2 has the option to upgrade to 32gb ram, but that wouldn't be cost efficient.

Here's the RAM that I'll be purchasing:

Any tips are welcome, and thank you in advance.

16 GB DDR3L SO-DIMMS do not work in Haswell-based laptops, so you won't be able to upgrade to 32 GB of RAM.
