Well, I visited my local Fry's to see the Alienware 15 in person. I currently have an m14x r1 that desperately needs replacing, though it is still running strong. But, when I started typing on the AW15, my fingers immediately were off center; the keyboard appears to be shifted to the right, by a noticeable amount. I spent a solid 5 minutes just trying to get accustomed to it, but I could never adjust. Though I will most likely use an external mechanical keyboard with this (if I do end up purchasing it) I just wanted to know what you guys felt about this. I'm very obsessed with a laptop's keyboard, which is why I love thinkpads, and even the m14x has a great keyboard as well. It may not be a deal breaker, and I'm probably exaggerating a bit, but it'll probably always be in the back of my mind that I am uncomfortable with this keyboard. But other than that, the keyboard did have a long key travel, and a satisfying feel as the key hits the backplate. The lights could be a bit brighter too.

This was something that annoyed me quite a lot when I first got the laptop and I was hitting the macro key set switcher every time I wanted to hit escape.

I've started to adjust though and recently typed up a document using the laptop keyboard and didn't have any major issues. My last laptop was a ThinkPad x220t and I'm starting to get a comparable experience.

    Hope that helps.

You'll get used to it with time. The keyboard keys are moved just a bit due to the macro keys.
