    Hello!

I'm thinking of getting Alienware 15 R3 laptop for casual gaming and as a primary working machine. Could someone share experience, is this machine loud when not gaming? My current primary computer is also laptop and is generally silent during the day and it is switched on most of the time.
Other alternative is building PC, which I may be able to make almost silent with proper case+fan combination, but I would prefer laptop for small form factor (no so much space on/below the table)
    Thanks for any advice!

    I have had a 15 r3 for 2 months.
Excellent work horse machine. Great keyboard.
Screen is great to look at. The amount of storage is awesome. The use for other more processor heavy stuff is nothing for this machine.
Any game is more than playable. It is one of the best laptops I have owned my last rig was a clevo. To pladticy and not at all durable. I had the 9750m as my last Alienware with 2 video cards. This build is beyond durable..

More taxing games are fan heavy. But you can always cool pad it and.lower the fan speed. I intend on a re pasting but for now just going through daily use the temps are acceptable. You can use 3rd party software to control the fans. But if you get a hq processor and not over clocking there is not much to worry about with Kaby lake paste jobs seems to have been improved.

Normal use is pretty much silent.
