Hello everyone , first of all i hope that my thread is in the right section of the forum , if not please accept my apologies .

Last year i've managed to buy a Alienware 15 R1 from a third party , ' we don't have any dell support or seller in morocco ' , the first year everything was fine , the laptop would run any game with at least 60fps in ultra
but it's been 3 mounth or more that my computer can't even run league of legends , Pubg , Fortnite , my fps goes down to 40 , i tought it was some drivers that messed up , so i decided to do a full factory reset and reinstalling windows / drivers , but still i can't manage to find what's wrong , until i decided to run intel XTU
My cpu which is ' I5-4210h ' was reaching 98C° and showing that the CPU is Throttling and Power Throttling , so i decided to take the laptop to a third party so he can open the laptop clean in it up and reapply some thermal paste , when the job was done i realised that the cpu heat was the same and the throttling / tearing in games reminded .
the next solution was to download HWINFO and try to boost my fans to the maximum which is 7000 , when i applied the settings my cpu was locked at 2.90Ghz and the sound of my cpu fan scared me so i decided to turn the settings to system auto

after trying everything i'm turning into this forum seeking for help , i decided to buy the Thermal Grizzly paste so i can change the chinese standard paste i have applied in the first place thank you for reading this

    My laptop specs are
    I5-4210H
    GTX 970M
    8gigs of ram
    No SSD

The thermal paste might already fix your issue. It's common with the shared heatsinks to heat up the CPU because of weak conductivity. You can test this by simply stressing out your GPU only and see if CPU temps rise. If they rise, you know that you just need to repaste with something good like thermal grizzly kryonaut.

So i tried stressing only my gpu it looks like in the first 2minutes of the stress the temps
were near 80-88° ( even tho intel xtu shows thermal throttling ) after the third minute , my temps went crazy to 98 C° again but i noticed that the core frequency is not going lower than 3.3ghz meanwhile when i stress the CPU The temps direcly goes to 98C° with an instable core frequency ( from 3.40ghz to 2.70ghz )
i want to try the Metal Liquid solution but i'm not an expert and i don't know if it's compatible with my cpu or heatsink

sorry for my bad english hope that i did not burn your eyes
NB: my fan speed is 4200 should i adjust it ?

As I said, normal good quality thermal compound such as Kryonaut, ICDiamond and GC-Gelid will be more than enough to fix your issue. Your processor is extremely easy to cool, no need to lquid metal.

i have i7 and 970m 15 r1 too. i have thermal grizzly conductonaut. and everything run really smooth.
you dont need liquid metal paste. with something like IC diamond 7 or Thermal grizzly kryonaut it will run fine
make sure both fans are working and nothing is blocking the blades of the heatsink
look at my temps while gaming

i suggest you try alternative like cooler master nano or even GC extreme, you can buy it from ebay.. if not MX4 should do the job, but remember to check ur thermal pads and the way u put ur heatsink backin... mount it proper and try to screw balanced, sometimes you dont have to follow the number order of screw placed, some heatsinks have bad bend, even by mm it makes difference, try to tighten the inside part of the heatsink first, cpu actually, then go towards the edge screws.. ive had lots of refurb heatsink.. just my suggestion.. but see whats best for u..

That cooler master is not good. VICKY actually mentioned cooler master maker gel
Gelid extreme, maker gel, kryonaut and phobya nanogrease are the ones to get. Gelid extreme will do. If you are interested in nano diamond paste Cooler master maker gel is the one to get if you really hate IC Diamond scratching the die.

actualy i don't have any idea ; about which type should i buy and which should i avoid , i'm just looking for a product that will solve my overheating issues and last longer
i contacted some websites in morocco , but i can't find the kryonaut , only the cooler master v1 and the mx4 , i might look deeper if i find something else

Gelid extreme should be available and last longer. Cooler master v1 is not good.

after some researches , i found that the thermal paste available in morocco are :
    Arctic Cooling MX-4 (20 g)
    Cooler Master IC Value V1
    Arctic MX-2
i might take the arctic cooling mx4 if i don't find the gelid extreme :/

Its worse. After a week the paste degrades. Use IC diamond 7 instead.

As @Vasudev said, MX-4 is not really good. the paste degrades after 1 month and my system's temps increase about 5-6*C more. Tried Kryonaut before and also really bad when my system always idle at 65-70*C doing nothing.

Very true even @judal57 can confirm this. I used to repaste every week using arctic silver ceramique2 by becoming a constant nagware malware for judal57. he recommended to try coolermaster maker gel and after 1.5 yrs I didn't repaste at all. The temps is same as day one.

Arctic Ceramique and Ceramique 2 is actually pretty nice to use as a "foam dam" around BGA CPU's when using Liquid Metal. Stuff is compressible and thick and then will dry enough without resistance to stop any Liquid metal from escaping. If you have any of that stuff sitting around :) Then you don't have to get rid of it.

Completely useless for a LGA CPU however (then you need actual foam).

Ok thanks. If I ambients reach near 50C, I'll go liquid metal since LM can dissipate heat faster.
