Hi,
I'm a new owner of a 4k 980m Alienware 15 model.
I will say, I also own a Retina Macbook 15 and have been looking for a 4k (or high res) screen for Windows. Finally I settled on the AW15. I only wish it supported 32GB Ram, but will suffer at 16GB for now.
I must say, comparing the screens, the AW15 looks a tad smaller than the Macbook 15. I was kind of hoping it was going to be the same size, but it definitely appears smaller. My other minor complaint is that the screen has a yellowish tint to it when viewing white backgrounds/images/colors.
While my macbook 15" monitor does look ever so slightly better, I will say the AW15 does seem to have a bit more punch to it's colors.
I've been playing with the color settings and that does seem to help. I wanted to know if anyone here has some good color settings values?
Thanks!!!

if color match truly concerns you, grab a calibrator tool from x-rite and create a profile for each monitor. When done properly your screens will be nearly identical.
On another note, the outputting resolution of the MacBook pro retina is slightly greater than 4k if I recall correctly. I'm still using my MacBook air till they offer a REAL air retina replacement. -
I would assume the 4k panel on the Alienware 15 is the same used on the Dell XPS 15 and yes, when it comes to color there's no way around it, the Macbook Pro has the best monitor but hey, one is aimed at games, if you bought it expecting the best image quality for professional work then I've got some bad news for you...
Here, watch this, Lisa compares the XPS 15 4k vs the Macbook Pro 15, she talks quite a bit about the displays....:

reptileexperts,
Thanks for the tips. I don't need the colors to be extremely accurate, but just wanted to know if anyone else adjusted them and to what values.
Chris_Wayne,
Thanks for the video. I'd be curious if anyone knows for sure that the AW15 and XPS15 uses the same 4k panel. Anyone know this?
I must admit, I'm a bit disappointed about the off-angle viewing. I read online that it was a really good display, but while I do believe it's better than average, I don't think it's amazing. I love glossy screens, can't stand matte. I just wish the off-angle viewing was better and whites were a bit better.
Anyone else have similarly feelings?
Thanks!
