Hi I am thinking about buying an alienware 15, but i was wondering what the battery life is realistically like.

Pretty simple and I would love a response
Thank you very much in advance

    ~3 hours without gaming.

The above post pretty much sums it up. You don't buy an Alienware for the battery life. Whilst most gaming laptop's don't have a great battery time, Alienwares are usually on the average and below scale in terms of battery times.

I find out that there is a problem cause by windows updates that drain the battery very faster!
My advice to any body is do no install optional updates!

It does vary by the screen brightness. I do apologize, my post above was with the full brightness.

Plugging in a device with a super high USB polling rate will impact battery life too ;)

Yeah I think that's what was happening with my RAZER OUROBOROS. Now the windows battery measures show 8hr of running time! Now I'm a happy camper!!!

My Alienware 15 doesn't seem to hold charge more than 1.5 hours despite being on power saver and with limited web browsing... What could the cause be...

3 hours at full brightness while doing productivity like photoshop. at half brightness and just browsing i can get between 5 or 6 hours with some conservative power settings. Using the Geforce 970m FHD version.

    Hello Mr Porras...
I'm using Alienware 15 with GTX980M card supplies with a 180W charger... My battery life runs out by 1 hour 30 minutes despite on battery saver... Could you help me with this... Do I need to get a 240W charger?

I get around 4 hrs web browsing on battery with the brightness turned down, basically not on full.

I got around 2 hours of gaming on battery playing The Witcher 3 on the weekend during a power cut, which was nice. I optimised the graphics for battery in GeForce experience and turned the brightness all the way down!

After windows 10 I get 6+ hours (like 6 hours and 20 minutes) with medium brightness and power setting set to eco, real work like CAD on battery is about 3 and a half hours (not rendering though), I'm sure I could squeeze more of it with the screen at the lowest possible brightness and alienfx disabled.

Realistic results but I did it without a lot of hd videos on youtube, that might affect run time.
