so there are day i use my laptop for just homework.....actually i pretty much use it mostly for homework....and literally i cant even sit my LAP-top on my lap how hot it runs with microsoft word or even google chrome open.
literally i can get a 3rd degree burn from it if i dont pay attention on my lap.......it burns me through shorts, jeans, and of course when doing homework in boxers its like sitting on a hotplate!
these are my temps just idling.......with one tabb of chrome open....
is this normal ?

The vents are located underneath the laptop, near the screen.
Fabrics might block the air intake, and make it hot.
Try placing it on a flat surface, and see how it goes.
As for bios, A00 is better if you want it to run cooler.
A05 is quieter, but raised temps about 5-10'C more for me. -

^ downgrade to A00 and just reboot your computer if you have to sleep it to fix the issue (or set it to hibernate vs sleep). A00 fan profiles are far superior.

Those temps u have r completely normal. Use some cooling if u r going to use on ur lap, or the air will be blocked.

I wouldn't worry so much unless it reaches higher maybe 70c + while idle. You said you were also using it on your lap which could block air circulation.
-
Use a laptop cooler. As others have said and you will note, intake vents for drawing in air are underneath with the exhaust outlets at the rear.

Mine is the same, you could fry an egg on the keyboard when gaming and it doesn't cool down when idle.
And the bottom of the laptop is even hotter, this is when it's sitting on a table.
I get max CPU temps of 92 when gaming, I just got off the phone with them and they said that those temps are normal.
Unfortunately I'm outside of the return period.

Gonna go back and try A00 and see if it's any better. -
Try out BIOS A00, it dropped my CPU temps by 10°C and GPU by 13 °C!!!

And this doesn't explain why the GPU temps are 10 - 13 degrees cooler on A00.
There is a noticeable difference for me in the temperature of the keyboard and overall surface temps of the laptop between A00 and A05.
On A00 the keyboard temps stay relatively cool and the fans are on almost all of the time when gaming.
On A05 the fans don't kick in till the CPU hits 91°C and the keyboard and bottom of the laptop get uncomfortably hot.
Plus the GPU temps are 10-13°C higher on A05. Maybe the higher GPU temps add to the heat on the keyboard.
That's just my experience, but it is reproducible on my system. -

My AW 15 i7/GTX 970m heats up to 80 C during usage of Google Chrome on A05. Downgraded to A00, now the temps look fine and fans start to kick in when needed. 50-60C in Idle.
