I had some light issues with my current Alienware 15 (early 2015). After talking to support, they decided to send me a new laptop and that I send the old one back.

I just received the new laptop and it has an updated processor that is not listed on their site (yet?) I am supposed to get i7-4710HQ but I received i7-4720HQ processor.

Im not complaining :D just wondering if somebody else ran into the same situation?

I had a colleague who ordered a AW 17 R2 with a i7-4710HQ a little over 2 months ago and after a 3 week wait, we received a i7-4720HQ instead with no up-charge and no notification. He also received a 7200 rpm 1TB drive. I don't recall if the quote advertised a 5400 rpm drive or a 7200 rpm one. Both were pleasant surprises (even though the processor is soldered BGA crap).

Interesting. I don't see it anywhere in the U.S. Alienware site, haven't checked other countries though.

Mine has the 7200rpm drive, it is advertised so I was not surprised there. But the processor was a good surprise. Even though it is not really that much faster than the 4710HQ, still, a welcome upgrade. The thing is, before they shipped me the replacement, in the spec sheet they emailed me to verify the specs, it had 4710HQ on it. Yet they still shipped the 4720HQ :D
