Hi, just bought GTA V on steam and was playing the first missions but then at the second mission when you need to steal a bike I noticed some serious delay on the key input, it almost drove me crazy, then, around the same time I started noticing some quick freezing on the game here and there. The game runs at 60 fps but this constant freezing is kinda killing my experience with the game, has anyone experienced such issue?

Is it throttling? having network issues?

Go to the link below and get the software. Test the system. The utility will allow you to benchmark the system. I wouldn't suggest futzing around with the settings though unless you well understand what you are doing.

I had Alienware tech support do an upgrade on my system and something got hosed so badly that my system was throttled at 800 mhz. Also, check the Nvidia settings to make sure the game is in the list of supported items. If not, you can manually identify it. Also, you can update the definitions with the Nvidia tools.Last edited: Jul 1, 2015 -

Running perfectly on my system (spec in my sig), most option set to V. High with the exception of Texture set to High, however there are some options such as AA set to FXAA, AF set to 2x, Motion Blur set to off, No Tessellation or AO, on 1080p. And the result was between 80-120 fps depend. And my CPU temp never go beyond 83C while GPU is 79C max, and the power option was set to High Performance.
This is might be a dumb question to ask, but have you add GTA5.exe and GTAVLauncher.exe to the NVIDIA Control Panel? And set the "Max pre-rendered frame" to 1?Chris_Wayne likes this. -

Well I ran the Intel XTU while playing it and here are the results so far:
CPU temp:
-Max 90°c, average 78°c, min 49° c but I guess that was before running the game.
CPU utilization:
-Max 74%, average 35%, min 0
Processor Frequency:
-Min 2.5ghz, max 3.44ghz, avrg 3.26ghz
Memory
-Max 6.2gb, min 2gb, avrg 5.5gb
Thermal Throttling
-Min 0%, max 16%, avrg 0%
Graphics temperature
-Min 48°c, max 75°c, avrg 67°c
As you can see, the maximum temp was the processor at about 90°c and it was near the end of the session, do you think that might be the problem?
Also, if it helps, I live in a tropical country, and at the time of the test (about 10pm) the temp was around 22°c, the first time the freezing happened was at noon, maybe about 32°c. -
Also, a pic

If it is a slight and brief freeze of less than one seconde occuring from time to time.
I got that also since the last gta5 update
never had that before
So there is great chance that is the game and not your laptop if we talk about the same freeze -

It was running flawlessly for me before latest patch on a 980m. This problem has been identified to come from latest patches, probably due to the implementation of a anti-modding protection.
I don't know your settings, but it is true thtat grass and msaa are fps killers also.

Just a follow up, Rockstar made miracles outta the latest update, not only they resolved the freezing issue but they also polished the game performance, now I'm able to crank up some other things and my frames are solid 60! kudos R*
