I wonder if this is the solution to the problems with people flashing BIOS 1.2.12.
If that is the case then the BIOS did not kill the board at all and the solution was very simple.

It didnt really kill the motherboard but made in unusable. I could get it to boot after by trying some button sequences. But it would not turn off by software so I had to hard press the power button everytime.

But couldnt fully reset the bios so they swapped my motherboard.

I usually pull the main battery connector, since the CMOS battery is harder to get to... This solves the GPU missing issues I get sometimes too (hasn't done it in a while)

Well if you would have known this would you have swapped the motherboard?

My point of my previous post is that people have been saying how much Dell sucks cuz its the only company that sends out BIOS updates that fries motherboards etc.

    Mine acted weird last night.
First the touchpad completely stopped working, no light and no input from my finger.
Then the power button would not put the unit to sleep. I had to use the old way through the start menu. However, when I did that it would no longer wake at all.

So I held the power button down for 10 seconds and it wouldn't start up again no matter what I tried. I thought great - another dead motherboard...

I eventually tried the reset method on this thread and luckily, that got it working again.

Nope... Downgrading bios didn't help mine.

Seems once you have upgraded to 1.2.12 or above, then the bios gets corrupted in some way and it will only be a matter of time before you get the "not turning on" issue regardless of the bios version your currently on.
