I have a relative that's interested in the GTX 1060 OLED screen model and can get them a pretty big discount with my coupons but the are going to have roommates and fan noise is a concern , question is to actual owners how loud do the fans get when gaming? And if they do get loud is there anything that can be done about it?
(Besides repasting which they probably can't do because they are not that skilled or knowledgeable when it comes to that sort of stuff)
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

It’s a “gaming laptop” you push it or any gaming laptop for that matter they all tend to get loud. I’ve never owners a quiet gaming laptop out of the 40-45 I’ve owned. ranging from clevo, aw, Asus and MSI.

    No kidding
Some are louder than others you and I both know that.
It’s not only how fast the fans spin but the pitch of the noise as well the fan curve, all I was asking is how the fan noise is, thanks for your help 40-45 laptop owner guy.

to answer you better, seems like alienware changed more than aspect on their new models like in the 13" model. for example alienware tend to change the fan blades design. in this case they changed the blade design and now the AW laptops tend to make less noise. like a soft blowing sound :)

There is a fan performance mode in BIOS which can be disabled, but of course you're going to run hotter. Especially with the stock garbage thermal paste. I have a re-paste, an external GPU, and a laptop stand which improves airflow on the bottom. This helps keep the temps at a reasonable level. Even with that though, once the CPU is stressed they will kick on to their highest speed. Its not so bad though, especially when using headphones.

You've been asking about quiet laptops as long as I have, lol.

The only ultra-quiet laptop under 17" I've ever found is the GT62VR. Packs a GTX 1070 and is whisper quiet. The GT72 and GT73 are obviously super quiet too.

I friend has the AW15 1070 and its much louder and hotter to the touch. I'm pretty sure the 13 will be loud too.
