I just ordered an Alienware 13 with the OLED monitor and 32GB of RAM. I was super stoked for it, and it has a lot more power then my current laptop. I wanted something portable that I can game with if I want to. I also like the look of the laptops.

I was looking at a random video on youtube and realized that it hasn't been updated in an entire year. Is that correct? I did notice their wasn't an option for an 8th gen CPU, but I figured that most of the power would come from the GPU.

I need the laptop in just under a month for certain, so I can't wait to long. Does anyone know if it's getting an update relatively soon?

They are discontinued AFAIK, so grab them (OLED especially) while they last. The only unfixable problems of the OLED version are the garbage that is optimus and panel lottery.

Cryzer is correct. If you check out the Alienware subreddit they have a lot of information about the upcoming cancellation. Frank Azor said that the 13 just didn't sell as well as they had hoped. The 15 R4 and 17 R5 get minor changes including new cooling (yay!), the new command center, new and more capable LEDs and an awesome black colour. Other than that they are the same chassis though.

Azor is giving misinformation. The 13 sold fine; but with the introduction of 6 cores and GTX 1050ti into the XPS 15, they want to sell that one more instead. They are afraid the two machines will compete with each other too much. Especially with the xps 15 being a little lighter and has almost exact same surface area (AW 13 is 13x10.5" and XPS is 14x9.5")

They also will no longer have a source for OLED panels; the main selling point of the AW 13

That is scary to hear. I love my oled panel and if we need to get a replacement what will we do in the future!

It's funny because I have a 13R3 / 32GB / 2TB 960 PRO / OLED / GTX 1060, and i ABSOLUTELY love the screen. I'm going to side with @ThatOldGuy in that Dell feared cannibalization with the XPS 15 being more screeny, hexacore, and 1050 Ti vs 13 R3's quadcore / 1060. It's sad too because even though the XPS 15 has smaller bezels and a hexacore and a 1050 Ti, there is a) still a marked jump from 1050 Ti to 1060, and b) after XPS transitioned from DELL's gaming line to their "multimedia powerhouse" line, one would think that Alienware would have kept that gap filled, and then pushed the 13R3 to say.... a 1070 MaxQ (if the thermals could handle it; I know anything @Donald@HIDevolution touches with CLU and ICD7 / Gelid and Fujipoly should have ZERO problems).

In re: OLED screens, it's a shame the yield sucked and that manufacturers are moving away. I LOVE my OLED screen to pieces. It's given me zero problems. I don't think the 13R3 was "unpopular", I think it was cannibalizing XPS sales and I think that it was too good of a laptop for its own good. Shame too.

Damn if I sell this Alienware 15 fast enough I’m definitely ordering an OLED 13. The screen is amazing

I really don't know. I assume Dell had some sort of replacement deal with Samsung. However Samsung has reportedly not made any new ones in a while. Dell must have to keep some sort of stock for repairs only.
