Just ordered the new Alienware 13 with the core i5 but with a 1080p display
I do alot of converting videos, from one format to the other, i had an alienware 14 core 17 4710mq but it was getting to bulky to lug around, so i opted to purchase the new one.
My question is think i will notice a big difference from the conversion time using the i5 instead of the i7
the laptop has not come in yet, and i am questioning myself if i should have spent the extra money for the i7

Yes. Video editing is one of the reasons to purchase an i7. However, if all you're doing is simple converting, then not so much.

Might have slightly longer conversion times as your previous processor is a little bit more powerful than the I5

I believe the same, for conversion there should´t be many issues. However, for video editing there will be a drop in performance (or speed) but it won't be too big.
