Does anyone know why the computer is always choppy when I wake it up from sleep? I keep having to restart it. Even the windows animations stutter.

I made a video clip showing the difference at 1/4th speed.
Notice the smoothness of the animation.

Try updating the Intel driver if you're experiencing the problem on Integrated GPU. If you're experience this issue on Nvidia GPU or Radeon GPU, I'd suggest you to wait for Gsync/FreeSync approved drivers from Dell.

Hmm that's weird. My tabs when I turn exit then just shuts off and you don't even see that slow fading of the screen prior to closing out the window unless it's the video you have taken in slow motion.

Vasudev: thanks I already tired that though.
cn555ic: the video is at 1/4th speed (slow motion)

Recently the USB c port has started to play up on me.
I always use an USB adaptor to plug in extra peripherals due to the other USB located on the right getting in the way of my mouse.

A few days ago, I lifted the front of the unit approx an inch from my desk and when I suddenly realise force was being applied to the USB port on the back.

I immediately went to check the port to see it was tight however as I replugged my mouse back in, nothing happened. So I restarted the system with the mouse still plugged in and it came back on. I then replugged the mouse and would stop recognising. This applies for all other peripherals I've tried.

So basically the USB c port only works if I do a system restart with a peripheral plugged in or only allowing me to plug a device once the system has started. If I unplug and plug it back in the second time, it will not recognise and will require a restart.

Also, 1 out of 8 times, when I close the lid, the system will not wake up from sleep. Actually, when this happens, it doesn't go to sleep since the alien logo on the lid remains on as well as the keyboard.

Also, if so restart the system and immediately close the lid once it boots into the home screen, it will always never go to sleep and requires and forced shut down but holding down the power button.

    What gives??

P.S I am getting a brand new replacement in approx 1 months time due to other mechanical issues. I will remember not to use the USB with my every day peripherals cos it's way too fragile. Also, the fhd ips have great outdoor visibility though the contrast ratio is only ok. Basically identical to my Cintiq 13 HD screen which is good enough. I can basically read anything under the sun on low brightness and the matt display is really reflection free with no grain on the surface at all. Backlight bleed is also near perfect.
