    Hello guys,
just wanna ask you whether it is able to mod the alienware 13 gtx 1060 vbios to get more out of this graphics card?
    e.g. open the power limit?

Yes, with a vBios hardware flashing kit, and Mobile Pascal TDP Tweaker v1.1.1.0 by @Coolane .

You can edit the GTX 1060 TDP up to 120W - 140W (Target - Limit) recommend max. I would try to go lower for BGA vs MXM though. Probably 110W - 120W on AW 13

You would be the first to try on Alienware. Would be awesome though

    Sure a 1.7 - 2.2% increase. WOOOO (sorry about the sarcasm ;))

Otherwise no; vBios and BIOS in general are not compatible across chip-sets or GPS

That BIOS update was nothing more than clock speed increases. You absolutely need hardware flasher to increase Pascal TDP for foreseeable future.

Somewhere down the road someone may figure out a software solution...

thank you for your answer :)! Thought it would be able to install the bios as easy as it is shown in that video :D

@ThatOldGuy Is there anyone trying this with an alienware system right know?

Not that i know of. But I was too lazy to read the whole 66 page tread. You can also assume that people have tried it but not joined or posted on the forum

Considered doing this as well, it'll be interesting to see your results, mine I planned on doing the opposite and going more of a Max-Q route.

Unfortunately i can´t get any vbios provided by Coolane to work in my Alien..

@Sentential do you already have a hardware programmer ?

Are you willing to try the vbios on yours?

No I don't have a hardware programmer I was either going to use a dumped BIOS from another MQ vendor and use pascal flasher or similar to force flash mine into a 1060-MQ

unfortunately it is not possible to flash pascal cards with modded vbioses these days...
You need to use a hardware programmer. @Sentential

@hans12321 Glad you finally succeeded ! Gratz ;)

I see that you hardflashed the UG15 labelled chip for your AW 13R3.
As i told you, i hard flashed the UG13 one on my AW 15R3.

UG13's and UG15's label locations are swapped between our motherboard.
Looks like the good one is the lowest located on both mobo.

I wonder if those chips aren't both VBios chip with a backup one... or maybe are mux/demux related.

Thank you :) i'm really happy!
I think that it really doesn't matter if you modify the ug13 vbios or the ug15 one. I'll try to flash the ug15 back to stock dump and flash the ug13 modded vbios.
Looking forward to the results whether i can still adjust the sliders ;)
I will let you guys know it!

Could you tell me where you got that clip from? I had a cheap one from china and that thing would always snap off the damn chip.

Sure sorry. I think it was this item but i'm not 100% sure. Those are all cheap chinese crap items and as already mentioned in another thread they can be all a little bit different. Some are a little bit more thick while others are smaller. I hope i could help you!
