if anyone knows where i can get a dc jack for an alienware 13, please let me know! mine seems to have fried. Dell is out of stock and I have scoured the internet for one and have come up with nothing.

it has a slim 7 pin connector. the label on the jack itself has cn-0vpy14-gt074-49q-07gj-a00. the label on the harness is torn but this is what I can make out (dots indicate missing a few digits): zap-dc ... cable

Surely it's still under warranty and you are entitled to a free replacement?

I would assume there is a reason it's not covered. Maybe a drop/user damage etc.

If you can't source the exact part, I see two other options. 1)Find another compatible style jack that you can "make work" with the main board of the AW13, may even entail some cutting of the case. 2)Make your own disconnect of sorts. Getting whatever jack you can install inside, and then hack your charger end to match it as well. Neither option will look very good though.

How much would Dell charge for the repair? You may have to send it in, and if they just put in a whole new main board it could be very expensive I guess.

i am the second owner and submitted the warranty transfer yesterday (fingers crossed). the original owner said they sent it in and he said they indicated it was something with the plug. when i bought it from him, i brought my own 130w dell branded plug to verify and it wasnt the plug. It was a good deal so i bought it anyways. i just get the plugged in not charging. I took it apart and the dc jack definitly is the problem. it is fried around the connections from the jack to the harness. Im thinking that should be covered under warranty. at this point, i just want the jack since the laptop is currently sitting in pieces on my desk. Im just waiting for a replacement jack to turn up. If the warranty transfer goes through, i'll try and send it off to dell. i dont think im desperate enough to mod the case, adapter or anything else at this time. a jack has to turn up on ebay sooner or later.

Oddly enough, only a few computers parts for the recent lineup have been on 3rd party websites (parts-people, ebay, etc.). I doubt the DC jack will show up by the end of the year or some close time frame.
I don't remember if the other Alienware laptops were like that in their first year.

Fingers crossed then. Hopefully, everything will go well and your machine will be up and running soon.
