Wow, did not expect this much information to be out a few days after the unit was just announced and open for preorders let alone actually available. **** there's more reviews and hands on experience from people about the new AW13 than I can find real reviews for the new Blade. Thanks you for all those links.

You've done well with your 860m, probably ran faster than my 960m over time as the 960m pulled away from the 860m as newer games released. Never overclocked mine. Know how too, just lazy to tinker so much lol as every game has different threshold for that.
As for Volta. My thinking is that like they did now with the 1080 been the only one to get gddr5x. I think if the was going to use hbm2 for the GTX models. Then they would of just used gddr5x for all the 1060 and 1070 aswell rather than using it for one generation and then abandoning it. Wouldn't make that much sense to make time making something new to discard it with out maximising it's potential in performance and money. They ain't ngreedia for nothing

I've ordered the base $1799 OLED model - can't wait to try this bad boy out! ETA is Nov 28-Dec 6th. I expect them to deliver a week earlier since they are conservative with lead times.

I used eBates 10%, another code for 10%, and then expect to get a 10% gift card from Dell to use elsewhere on their store. It's not really 30% off - more like 20% with a bonus. Unless I can apply the gift card they send me to my Dell Preferred Account? Anybody know if I can do that?

Anyways, for all the hardware in here, the deal price is hundreds less than the FHD Razer Blade models, and I believe this design is more "beefy" and better thermally than the thin Razer design. I have no experience with either brand though, so this is my first foray into Alienware and gaming notebooks. I'm actually selling off my desktop PC to afford this thing. I just don't enjoy sitting at my desk to game anymore!

I think this OLED display will be a catch 22 for me - it's going to make everything else I stare at look pale and lifeless by comparison. Can't wait to share my experience with you guys.

P.S: Why delivery time so long and... I received the confirm via email but on my Dell account it looks empty.

They initially were meant to start selling mid-November, so what we're seeing now is basically pre-orders. I do hope they start arriving earlier though :)

Specs PDF confirms 60hz display, not that there was any doubt imo.

Great post, thank you so much!

If I'm reading it right, it looks like you won't need to remove the whole mobo to repaste a 13 (unlike the 15 and 17)! Good news indeed.

WIll the AW13r3 have the same defective QHD+ screen the r2 had? The firmware level (not igpu level like so many parrot =\) display dimming was awful for any little task that wasnt games.

That QHD screen no longer is offered. The QHD option is now the OLED Touch screen. Which is fantastic

I waited so long... and everytime there is a small improvement, no a revolution. I could wait but... looking for wait? It's clear like the Apple sentence "the better ever... the next" but there is always a next.
The OLED is awesome, I guess the real revolution of that generation, and today I am here, tomorrow...who knows? :p

Not sure what I just read...

For the AW13 this is a revolution. The fact that they are not using U processors or L memory is a huge step. Every other improvement is just a bonus as far as I am concerned. I believe it will probably stay like this for several years and yearly improvements will be just Intel and Nvidia updates.

Should I wait for Kaby Lake or just go ahead and order the AW Skylake?
If wait, how long is the wait we are talking about?

Currently running a 3 year old ultrabook.

The only benefit you'll notice with Kaby Lake over Skylake is battery consumption. Performance will be nearly identical. We're talking a 0.1Ghz boost in clock speeds which results in less than 5% performance improvement. It should be available by January. :)

Worth the wait? Can't tell you. My guess (because nobody knows for sure) is that it will give you another 30-45 minutes of battery life.

Ok. Any idea when the Kaby Lake would be available to order in the AW? If it's next month, I can wait but if we are talking about 3 months then there is no point waiting.
