Around the moment I installed the creators update, the powerbutton light on my AW15R2 refuses to show the power/battery status even though they are correctly configured in Alienware Control Center.

The strange thing is that the AlienFX tester is able to turn the lights on, so the lights around the power button are not broken.

ANyone else this issue as well?

i see.. CLRPin Method Works for clearing those things, im just waiting for dell to release new command center and other driver updates for Skylake Revisions.. its been months.. 0 updates..[/QUOTE]
Well I wonder if my led issues have something to do with the creators update. I used my laptop mainly with the lid closed those days so I couldnt exactly pinpoint the moment when it started to happen.

@rinneh: Just fixed my Wifi LED issue Capture.PNG

Right click each of the driver pointed by arrow, click on update my driver > Browse My computer for Driver > Let me pick from a list of available drivers > Select the highlighted driver and click install. Follow the same procedure to fix Alien head lighting issue.

@rinneh and @VICKYGAMEBOY: Try these steps mentioned in the link Help on AlienFX on New AW 17 R4(unable to change color)
In addition to that, Open Cmd in admin mode and type these
    1. cd C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319
    2. ngen update /silent /nologo
    3. cd C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319
    4. ngen update /silent /nologo
Ngen command will generate fresh images of .net packages and library suitable for your system. Then reboot.

    Yes correct.

Mine too. Looks like its meant to tackle issues with Tobii using a firmware and not LED related to AlienFX.

Hello guys! Sorry for necroposting, but I have absolutely the same issue as the TS.
Issue: Alien Head in power button works only in AlienFXTester, Brightness control work only on Left-Macro keys row. During boot process there are no any light (status also black, no HDD and other activity indicators). After Command center start all - lights turned on, but not Power button Alien Head.
While charging LED also doesn't light up. I can turn off the head with Control Center if it was turned on with AlienFXTestes before.
Behaviour absolutely the same as on video from the first post.

I bought AW with this issue already. It have BIOS 1.4.4 (but i think that does not matter). Windows 10 installation done myself already with the recent patches. This means that .Net v.4.7.1 included and cannot be changed. AlienFX fw version 18.00.00. Tried 17 version too, with no success.

Recommendation from @Vasudev to reinstall drivers for ACPI button etc. does not work for me too.
Looks like Bios/SuperIO can not send commands to AlienFX chip - maybe this is some ACPI problem.

I look thru Internet forums, but no solution was found.
Please help if anybody have solved this issue.

    In use:
    Alienware 17R3 | 17" 1080p | i7-6800HQ | 16GB | GTX 970m 3GB | 1TBGB SSD + 1TB HDD Win10Pro.

So installing newer AW CC isn't working? Have you checked the FX cables and try reseating them!
Also if you can run the commands mentioned in post #22 and see if it helps.

Thank you for fast reply! Installing of the AW CC of the newest and previous versions didn't help (I have tried 4.5.19.1 A00; 4.5.19.1 A01; 4.5.16.0 A00).
Cables are checked: I've disassembled laptop and reassembled already to check this. No problems (The light are working correctly under AlienFXTester - must be connections are ok).
Tried commands from post #22: in 64bit folder there is error:
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319>ngen update /silent /nologo
Failed to load dependency stdole of assembly Microsoft-Windows-HomeGroupDiagnostic.NetListMgr.Interop, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35 because of the following error : File not found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)

Tried several times, after reboot nothing is changed.
I've heard about some Dell Diag from USB stick, but not checked it yet (Possible it must check AlienFX hardware too).

Unfortunately I only could fix this with a motherboard swap. More problems started to arise after this, sometimes the laptop would not boot. As you will notice. when you boot up the lights dont turn on as well. They only turn on when the Alienware control center services are loaded. So I think the storage chip of the AlienFX circuit is fried or corrupted.

Sad to hear that (about motherboard). BTW, it is strange that this bug came with Windows 10 updates... I have no other problems, only with AlienFX. Fried...don't sure, but not excluded completely. This problem is rare but the symptomatic is the same, maybe it can be fixed using some SW or even HW fix it will be the solution for me. Earlier models have AlienFX pins on the MB, with them refirmwaring was possible. Don't know if in newer models there is some header on motherboard.
Maybe some ACPI/BIOS tables clean-up utility is available? Usually BIOS generates them during HW changes (not easy on laptops).
Thank you, I will try to reinstall AW CC. Maybe you know some utilities to clean ACPI tables in BIOS area?

Not sur ehow they store it these days but resetting the CMOS, reflashing the bios etc all did not help. I could not get it too work. After they replaced the motherboard all was fine directly again.

I thought it was because of the windows update but it also could have been Mafia 3 which messes with the Alien FX lighting zones. So as a precaution now I always turn third party access off.

The people at alienware also did not have a solution apart from replacing the motherboard.
