So I use the macro keys on the left of my 15 R2 for the following:

    5 - Volume down
    4 - Volume Up
    3 - Mute Sound

I cant seem to set 2 or 1 to Brightness up and down.

Is this a bug? Can someone else try this for me?

I hate having to hit FN and F9 or f10 combined (Pain in the butt, loved my macbook because of the dedicated one touch keys).

So yea, someone out there please try and see if you can set the macro for brightness up and down for me.

I actually wondered the same thing a little while back. See this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/lock-fn-key.600801/page-2

Seems the FN key is a tricky one, I have seen the option in some BIOS' to set the FN key to "Multimedia Mode" which is exactly what you're looking for however, it has to be baked into the BIOS or no go...... I can't remember seeing that option in the BIOS on my machine but I'll check later....

    That's not viable unfortunately.
