AWCC.Background.Service and high temps.

Greetings AW owners,

I've had my m15 R3 for about a month now and struggling. I consider myself tech savvy - got my first Atari 800XL in 1985 - and like to think that I'm up and hip on technology.

But man, this thing just baffles me.

I'm not sure I understand what the AWCC.Background.Service does. It's a service so it fires up regardless if the AWCC is running or not. The initial issue that I'm running into is that the service adds 20-30c on the processor CPU. As I keep testing this I underclocked the CPU to 3.7Ghz. The temp at startup settles down to 70+ degrees and spikes to around 80c as I monitor it. Looking at task manager I see the AWCC.Backround.Service running and showing as "Very High" for Power Usage. Regardless of settings the service always runs "Very High". Once I kill the task the temps settle down to 47c.

Does anyone know what this service does and why it's needed? Any ideas why it would require so much power and why it would affect CPU temps?

Would love to know too - this AWCC BS thing started quite recently, CPU utilisation north of 60% during gaming! Don't recall any issues earlier.

This happened to me some months ago. For no reason at all, AWCC was just having a high load on my CPU. I did a clean reinstall of it and it stopped happening. Funnily, the AWCC forces updates on people every so often. I remember somewhere someone posted a way to block it in the registry. But even a couple weeks ago, a AWCC update popped up for me. Its been working fine, but like I said the last time I had a problem it was fine for most people too, but for me it was running CPU at like 30-60% constantly.

Edit: Actually I think it was AW OC Controls process that was running 30-60% for me. But it is a package deal with the AWCC, you can't have one and not the other afaik, they come together and go together
