Does anyone know, based on timing of their releases, if the AW15 is due soon for any sort of major refresh (GPU, CPU, etc.)? Debating whether or not to buy right now. Thanks!!!

Well over on the Australian website they only have 15's and 13's available, so they must be getting ready to refresh them.

your AW17 is still good, just upgrade the GPU and you're set for another year or 2. the newer models are really a downgrade.

haha yeah I am not planning on buying a new laptop until MXM 4 comes out, I was just saying that over here the Australian website don't offer the 17's on the main page which I think would mean they are ready to release new ones soon.

I think I'll wait for 16/14nm gpu's from amd and nvidia first, as I'm very tight for money so by then I think I'll be ready for it.

For Windows 7 Pro, that date (end of sales) is not yet announced. According to Microsoft's support materials, that date will be announced 12 months in advance. so you have at least one year. Whether or not Dell/Alienware still offers Windows 7 Pro before Microsoft's EOS is up to Dell/Alienware. We have no crystal ball. The Ace we still have is that businesses by and large still reject Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, so Dell is still compelled to offer it to customers (based on demand) for a little while.

Hard to predict; future is uncertain.

More prediction here, but anyone have any idea if the AGA will continue to be offered? That's my other concern- that perhaps it sells poorly and they discontinue it and its proprietary connection in future versions. I'd much, much prefer to have it in my machine as I can continue to upgrade the external GPU, obviously, but this is the sort of thing I can see them quietly make vanish come next reboot. (?)

Notebookcheck is already speculating about the GTX 990M which apparently will be a portable desktop 980 in terms of raw performance, my guess is that a refresh for new processors is coming in october, november and new models in q2/q3 2016, Intel is the one to blame for the delay in Skylake.
